Description
Prince performed live at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas on the weekend, and the performance on December 29, 2006, which was one of the rare performances, was recorded with a powerful and wonderful audience, and 4Dafunk has remastered it to release it with a more vivid sound. The rock version of “Spirituality” with the lyrics of “Sexuality” changed gives you goosebumps from the beginning. Then, in the rock and roll “Johnny B. Goode”, Prince drives the audience crazy with his guitar and singing. Maceo and Mike Phillips’ saxophones are featured and it’s really cool. The jazzy version of “Girls and Boys”, the performance that seems to condense only the good parts of “Purple Rain”, and the songs “Lolita” and “Black Sweat” from “3121” are pop and funky masterpieces. The flow leads seamlessly to “Kiss” and “Shhh”. The second half of “Musicology” is especially funky, especially when it is said to be a bonus stage. Prince’s guitar cutting and Maceo’s scathing sax knock you out. From there, it leads to “Play That Funky Music”. The funkiness doesn’t stop here either, it’s even better. And in honor of Maceo, “Pass The Peas” is cool because Maceo calls Renato to play a keyboard solo. Maceo also sings “Shake Everything You Got”, but here he also calls Maurice Hayes for a keyboard solo. Prince doesn’t let Maurice Hayes come forward much, so it’s rare to hear his solo. The dignified play of “Joy In Repetition” and the 9-minute band version of “Pink Cashmere”, which has the atmosphere of “If I Was Your Girlfriend”, are very beautiful, including Mike Phillips’ jazzy sax solo. The stage ends with “U Got The Look”. The encore is “7” and “Come Togheter”, a duet between Shelby J and Prince. The stage and the audience are one. Then Prince introduces the song as old school and funky, and Shelby sings Mother’s Finest’s cover “Love Changes”. He turns off the lights and says, “Good morning,” and starts the bass line, saying, “It feels weird, right?” He jams with everyone chanting “Friday Holy,” and the Twins sing a medley from “What Have You Done For Me Lately.” Then he closes with an instrumental version of Maceo’s “What A Wonderful World,” Prince’s super rare piano version of “Nine Million Bicycles,” and Shelby’s wonderful singing voice, a cover of Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy.” Katie Melua’s cover of “Nine Million Bicycles” is the best, the best. Katie’s second album in 2005, which included this song, was a big hit in Europe, and she became the best-selling British female artist. Prince inserts phrases from “Over The Rainbow” into the intro and middle of the song, plays it very melancholic, and even changes the lyrics a little. Prince’s version is below. “There are nine million bicycles in Beijing. That’s a fact. We can’t deny it, like I’ll love you till the day I die. We’re twelve billion light years from the edge of the universe. That’s a guess. No one can say for sure, but I know how long I’ve been with you. I’m warmed by the fire of your love every day. So don’t call me a liar. Believe everything I say. There are six billion people in the world. Whether there are many or few makes me feel so small. Almost everything I want is you. We’re walking a tightrope in this world. I’ll never get tired of the love you give me tonight, tonight, tonight. There are nine million bicycles in Beijing. That’s a fact. We can’t deny it, how I love you tonight, love, love.” Club 3121 Dec 29th 2006 CD1: 01. Spirituality 02. Johnny B. Goode 03. Girls and Boys 04. Purple Rain 05. Lolita 06. Black Sweat 07. Kiss 08.
