Description
This time, two live performances from the same period as the oldest recording will be released as soundboard recordings. First of all, the sound quality is very pure, and it is hard to believe that this recording is from almost 40 years ago. It seems that it was recorded for an official live album. Of course, there is some distortion. However, the young Prince, who is only 21 years old, and his childhood friend Andre Simone, are about to take off and stir up the music scene, and this recording is a must-have item that will be compared and studied many times in the future as a starting point for Prince’s live performances. If you listen to this recording, you will realize that Atlanta 80 was actually an incomplete recording (although the charm is not lost because I Feel 4 U, which is not played this time, is included in Atlanta 80). Before Prince’s debut single Soft And Wet, he plays a very funky instrumental as if he is kicking it up. It seems that Prince and probably his band members worked together to create this. It’s because it’s a way for each member to show off their abilities. However, there are some phrases that can be heard on outtakes from this period, and Prince is the main composer. You can’t hear this on Atlanta 80. It also includes the Christmas phrase Jingle Bells. Why in March? I wonder, but it may be that respect for Christ is something that can be shown in any season. Just listening to this one instrumental song is a big discovery, but the songs include Soft And Wet, which clearly shows the young Prince’s R&B manners, Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?, which is heavier than the studio recording, Still Waiting, which makes you think it’s sung by a girl, Bambi, which is a lesbian song but suddenly turns masculine, Sexy Dancer, which is thoroughly danceable, Just As Long As We’re Together, and the last song I Wanna Be Your Lover, which have a more groovy feel and arrangement than the studio version, and although this time they are opening for Rick James, they are going head-on and going to beat Rick James, and it is a very young, positive, and reckless performance. You might think that the 8th, which has more songs performed, is better than the 8th and the 16th, but the 16th is a more complete performance because there are fewer songs and they are more familiar with the venue.
