Description

The first new release in a long time is a compilation of soundboard recordings from the Coachella Festival. It includes flv footage from Lotusflow3r.com, a documentary video called Coachella 20 Years In The Desert that came out in 20, the intro to the show, and some footage of Let’s Go Crazy, and they are arranged in the order of the live performance. It is very enjoyable as it contains a lot of highlights from the live performance. 1.Show Intro 2.Shhh 3.Creep 4.7 5.Come Together 6.Let’s Go Crazy And this time, a special Blu-ray with super special footage is included. The Coachella live performance has been compiled and reproduced using audience recording footage from the camera at the time, pro shot flv footage from Lotusflow3r.com, and the intro and Let’s Go Crazy pro shots from the film Coachella 20 years in the desert. The sound source is a professional shot, using the sound source as much as possible, remastered audience recording with the best sound quality (probably remastered to make the 4DF sound source a little softer). The image quality is rough, but that was in 2008, when smartphones and iPhones were still appearing in Japan, so it was the dawn of the era, but still the video was available overseas. As much as possible was collected and edited almost complete, with Prince’s guitar being shown while The Bird and Jungle Love were shot from multiple angles centered on Maurice and Jerome, and the audience was already dancing on the stage. Prince, who was not very noticeable, also plays a roaring guitar solo at the end. Then, while Sheila adjusts the percussion, they connect it like a medley to The Glamorous Life, and you can enjoy Sheila’s wonderful singing and percussion in the video. Prince puts in a light chorus. And Sheila’s percussion is very effective in the medley of Santana songs. Cece Dunham’s drum solo, Renato’s piano solo, they played behind The Time and Sheila. It’s quite unconventional. And Prince’s guitar solo. It’s so cool that it gives you goosebumps. And 1999 is the opening song of Prince’s set. Prince’s cutting is great here too. Marva King also has a good voice. The ladies’ costumes are lovely and they dance very soulfully. Then I Feel For You is sung by the ladies, and Prince is the chorus and instigator. On to Old School and Controversy. The horn section of Latin funk band Groupo Fantasma is backing, but it cuts sharply and is funky. Little Red Corvette was reborn as a band version from this time, but it’s a solid performance and somewhat thrilling. And the guitar played with the right hand as if dancing gracefully is cool. Musicology is not complete, but it’s great to dance when the dance is too funky to sleep, and then to avalanche into Prince And The Band. “Happiness, because you’re paid right, free from all contracts, relaxed because you’re not exposed to direct sunlight, oh we got it, we can distribute yourself, guys, we’ve come this far, Prince and the band.” In Cream, he gestures and murmurs, “I wrote this song while looking at myself in the mirror.” Shhh uses both the sound and the video of the pro shot that was released on Lotus Flower’s web. The blue Stratocaster that he used at the Super Bowl is dazzling. Prince’s style has been established beyond Jimi Hendrix, and he shows off the best guitar play like a declaration. And a cover performance of the legendary Radiohead’s Creep. This is also a pro shot. In fact, Prince sings with a lot of changes to the lyrics. In the original, Prince laments, “You’re fucking special, I wish I was special too,” but Prince sings, “You wish you were special, you’re so nice, and so am I,” and does not sing “I’m a creepy creep” that appears in the original chorus. Prince shouts, “Maybe I’m just… What? Stop lying, what are we doing here, we don’t belong here,” which is a completely Prince-written lyric, and the word creep does not appear anywhere. And the guitar solo on the orange strat is short, but it appears twice at the perfect timing, and it explodes with a sound that suits creep very well. And 7 is also a pro shot. Prince sings with a smile while playing lightly with the Mad Cat. “People from different places, different faces gathered. I’m tired of war, are you ready for the golden age?” The audience screams that they’re tired of war. Prince sings a cover of Come Together. This is also a professional shot. The lyrics of John Lennon of the Beatles, which can be interpreted in various ways as unity, sexual cumming, and drug use, are sung honestly with a focus on ladies. Prince’s guitar solo is also the best. Prince incites, “We got something new, it’s the Coachella choir, it’s unity.” The audience chants, “Come together, yeah!” When the audience quiets down with only thrilling guitar and bass drum, Prince and others start singing “Come Together” again and finish. Prince shouts “Gunnai” and leaves the stage. Then Prince returns to Purple Rain, encouraging further unity. You can enjoy a great performance with a good multiple audience shot centered on Prince. Then Prince shouts, “Come to this desert, it’s a bonus stage, you guys deserve it, come to Prince’s house!” and performs “Let’s Go Crazy”. This is also played at the end of the movie Coachella 20 years in the desert. It’s that great, but it’s heavily edited. In a way, I’ve used the footage here to recreate the great performance as best as possible. Empire Polo Field, Indio : 26th April 2008 The Time 1.Intro 2.The Bird 3.Jungle Love Sheila E 4.The Glamorous Life Prince & the NPG 5.Santana Medley 6.1999 7.I Feel For You 8.Controversy 9.Little Red Corvette 10.Musicology/Prince And The Band 11.Cream 12.Shhh 13.Creep 14.7/Come Together 15.Purple Rain 16.Let’s Go Crazy Audience & Pro-shot 86min.
