Description
From the European tour held in the latter half of 1972, the definitive edition of the audience recording of the Frankfurt, Germany performance held on November 16th and 17th is now available. Remastered digital copy from the authentic 1st Gen master. Regarding the first day, it first appeared on bootleg as “THE FIRST NIGHT IN FRANKFURT” (A-160) from Ayanami in 2002, and in 2006, the complete version “MARCH OF THE DAMBUSTERS” appeared on 2nd day from Sirene as a 4-CD set. This title achieved overwhelming upgrades on both days, and has been supported by Floyd enthusiasts all over the world as a definitive edition to this day, and as its name suggests, it is a masterpiece and a masterpiece sound source. In February 2013, a high-definition transfer version was finally released that far surpassed the original version of “MARCH OF THE DAMBUSTERS”. Please listen to this and compare. You can immediately tell from the first song “Breathe” that the sound is not as fresh, the amount of information, and the quality can be improved by equalization and remastering. What is amazing is the upper tone on the first day, the sound source on this day is slightly lower than the second day, and there is a lot of hiss. I think there are many, but this album completely overturns that image. The sound image is clear and neat, as if it was recorded with a DAT in 1972, which is different from the compact sound of previous releases. It deeply moves and excites the listener. This is no longer logical. Trust your ears and listen to this “1st Gen Master”. Of course, you can hear a faint hiss noise, but the sound and grain of the fresh musical tones is truly a masterpiece. By the way, the 3:30 cut from Brain Damage, which has already been released, is not on the main disc! This alone is a huge advantage. In any case, you can understand after listening to it for a few minutes that there are not many such amazing sound sources, and the more you listen to it, the more the listener will be astonished, horrified, and shaken by the true nature of this monster sound source. It may be said that this is a privilege only given to collectors who have been Floyd fans for many years. A definitive album that makes you think, “I haven’t given up on the world yet to have such an amazing sound source.” I can safely say that this is a great sound source that will pleasantly stimulate and even inspire the hearts of older rock fans who are tired from work, home, and relationships. On the second day, the Beatleg review (vol. 66) at the time of its release said, “Everyone will be amazed by its amazing recording”. The level of perfection of the sound is indescribable. Although the sound quality is surprisingly high, it is surprising that there is no feeling of equalization at all. The title comes from the part where Roger introduces the Echoes on the first day as “March of the Dambusters” for some reason. The first day got off to a rocky start with the vocal mic being turned off at the beginning of Breathe, but overall it was a pretty good performance. Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun allows you to listen to a spectacular performance that was written in a specialized magazine as “a better performance than the legendary performance at Pompeii”. On the second day, you can listen to a highly complete performance, and at Careful With That Ax, Eugene, you can hear Roger’s famous speech-like scream. In the second half of Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun, you can enjoy a spectacular performance, such as playing a riff like 1970’s Intersteller Overdrive. With the best sound quality and content, a major definitive album will be released in February 2013 that is sure to become this year’s leading Floyd title.
