Description
BBC, a prestigious music broadcaster that has been accompanying the birth and development of British rock. A blockbuster series that completes the PINK FLOYD collection with official transcendent quality has been born! This work is the latter part. The first part “VOL.1” had a comprehensive look at 15 small sound sources, but this is a big feature on big sound sources. It is a four-disc set with “September 30, 1971 Paris Theater performance (1 type)” and “November 1974 Wembley performance (3 types)” on one disc each. In fact, not only the composition but also the contents of the first and second parts are different. The first part was based on the “Prof. Stoned” collection to improve the accuracy, but this is unrelated to “Prof. Stoned”. It completes the BBC appearance sound board other than “VOL.1” with a different source. Well, it is easier to understand such stories with specific sound sources rather than vague logic. Let’s introduce each disc individually right away. DISC 1: Paris Theater (Stereo Version) from the “Meddle” Era The first to appear is the broadcast soundboard of the BBC classic “Paris Theater on September 30, 1971”. It is also included in “BBC 1970/1971” and the simultaneously released “VOL.1”, but this version is a completely different thing with a different meaning. As mentioned in the commentary of “VOL.1”, this live is available in “mono version” and “stereo version” (not a different mix, but a different recording staff itself), the former was included in “VOL.1” and the latter in this work. The stereo version is a major transcription disc, and our “BBC 1970/1971” and “Prof. Stoned” collections were also LP master recordings. In contrast, this work is not LP, but is created from an open reel master produced for North American FM broadcasting. Moreover, this work is based on the treasure reel and realizes an even higher peak. This is the complete version, with John Peel’s narration on tracks 1 and 3, which were cut from the reel version and transcription disc, patched from the WNEW-FM broadcast version (first recorded in this work!), and the missing two songs, “The Embryo” and “Blues”, added to their original positions. In particular, this stereo mix of “The Embryo” and “Blues” is valuable. “Blues” is an extremely rare sound source that is not even available in mono broadcast. It is a phantom take that was broadcast only once on a New York radio station in the mid-1970s, and this work is supplemented with a source retransferred in 2016 by Neonknight, who is an upgrade from “BBC 1970/1971”. Of course, the part where the DJ announcement overlaps in the interlude of “The Embryo”, which is also a drawback of the WNEW-FM source, has been carefully replaced and patched using a sound source demixed from the mono version. DISC 2: 1974 Wembley “Madness” broadcast version DISC 1 was from the “meddlesome” era, but DISC 2 and after are all 1974 Wembley performances. This can also be roughly divided into “DISC 2” and “DISC 3-4”. This “DISC 2” is, so to speak, the broadcast version. The version broadcast on BBC Radio 1’s famous program “Alan Freeman Show” in 1975. It is not a full show, but only the second part “Madness” + “Echoes” which has not been broadcast on the radio. This is based on the standard best master “BBC Archives 1974 (Harvested)” source, and the register sound of “Money” which was missing for a few seconds is also patched and recorded in full length. DISC 3-4: Official extended version of Wembley in 1974 DISC 3: AUD-complemented first part The last is a complete soundboard set of two Wembley performances. The official soundboards that were scattered in the immersion boxes of “Fire” and “Madness” and “THE EARLY YEARS 1965-1972” have been gathered together and reconstructed into a full show format. Strictly speaking, like Echoes, it is a shelved sound source that was not used in the BBC’s broadcast at the time, but since it is an archive tape of BBC recording, it was recorded in this board with a focus on completeness. Also, the point here is that it is not just a collection. DISC 3 is the first part of the show, but the intervals between songs and tuning that were cut out of the official soundboard are complemented by the audience recording of the same day. The switch between the audience and the soundboard is combined with a long crossfade so that it does not feel out of place, and the Jimmy Young’s chattering SE at the beginning of “Raving and Drooling”, which was cut out of the official version, is also reproduced. ・DISC 4: The second part with an encore added The last DISC 4 is the second part of Wembley in 1974, following DISC 3. This album combines the previously separate tracks “Madness” from the Immersion Box and “Echoes” from “The Early Years.” As shown in the tracklist below, the B-side of “Madness” is a take from November 15th, which is a different performance from DISC 2. This is the first part of a 4-part set of 2 sets that completes all the BBC sound sources left by PINK FLOYD. This work alone lasts 4 hours, 49 minutes, and 29 seconds, and the two sets total 8 hours, 48 minutes, and 15 seconds. All of these are cultural heritage of rock by the prestigious BBC, and the best existing masters can be collected all at once. This is a must-have big set for all kinds of fans and enthusiasts. A complete collection of soundboards left by the prestigious BBC. This is the second part of a 4-disc set that includes the 1971 Paris Theater performance (stereo version) and the 1974 Wembley performance (3 types).
