Description

This contains the studio rehearsal of “The Dark Side of the Moon” recorded from 1971 to 1972. This is a shocking sound source that was suddenly leaked in the past, and its authenticity has been hotly debated on the Internet. It is a mono recording, and the texture is as if it was recorded in a studio with a microphone set up, but the sound is more than excellent. Unfortunately, all of the content is very short and fragmentary, but anyone who listens to it will be amazed. The content of the performance is exactly the early 1972 version of “The Dark Side of the Moon”. Tr1 is from the stage called the travel sequence. Tr2.Time is after an extremely moody intro like the early live version, and here it seems that Roger is probably playing the vocal melody line in a scat style, which is a bit surprising (but it fades out quickly). Tr5 is thought to be the source of the laughter and chatter heard in the official version of On The Run, and is a fragment of the laughter and chatter of Roger “The Hat” Manifold, who was the band’s roadie at the time. The second half contains the demo tracks of “Madness” recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London from 1971 to 1972. The whole album has a rough mix sound, and you can listen to a series of interesting takes that are completely different from the final version. All of them are recorded with excellent official line recordings, and by listening to them together with the DVD “Classic Albums: The Making of The Dark Side of the Moon” and the bonus footage of “Live at Pompei”, you can get a deeper understanding of the situation at that time. Although the demo sound source is familiar to fans, the pitch has been accurately adjusted for each song, so you can hear the best take. Tr8.Money was recorded using a new master from the Low Generation this time. In addition to the fact that it has a more natural sound with less hiss than the previous version, it is surprising that the final part is recorded about 5 seconds longer than the previous version.
