Description

The second day of the Bristol performance on December 14th, the final performance of the 1974 European & UK Winter Tour, was recorded with a high-quality audience recording. A high-quality version that appeared via the Internet was recorded. The sound is very high quality and RAW. The show is almost completely recorded over 140 minutes, and yet the sound quality is of a high level that even beginners can listen to without any problems. It is also an unfortunate sound source with few titles such as “Heavy Fog In Bristol” and “Bristol 1974” despite being a famous sound source representing the 1974 UK tour. The existence of two sources has been confirmed for this performance, and this board has been recorded in the best condition by pitch correction (★ Correcting the pitch 30 to 80% lower than the semitone.) & reducing and deleting analog noise in several places. As usual, there are some parts where the hiss noise is partially loud, but anyway the sound is close, mild, thick, and very easy to listen to, so I would like to recommend it to all Floyd fans. Any Colour You Like has a cut at 8 seconds and Rick’s synth solo is not included. There is no version of Source 1 where you can hear this part. At the beginning of the encore, Echoes, Gilmour introduces that “Today is the last performance of the tour”. It’s a satisfying 2 hours and 20 minutes. Please enjoy the best version of the Bristol performance in 1974 at the moment. (For details of the concert, please read the excerpt from Beatleg vol.17 “From the Underground 15” below.) This is a recording of the second day of the Bristol performance, which was the final performance of the UK tour. The stage starts with Jimmy Young’s intro. “Raving and Drooling” features Gilmour’s expressive guitar work, which includes cutting and arpeggios, and a strong rhythm section that is always on the ball. The screaming by Waters in the interlude is also intense. “You Gotta Be Crazy” is a fast-paced performance led by a phase-shifted guitar intro. Gilmour’s vocals are a bit flat and lack growth. The interlude is flawless, with Wright’s fantastic scat, Gilmour’s guitar solo with strong picking and choking phrases that add expressiveness, and Waters’ vocals with Wright’s polyphonic synthesizer in the background. “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” is a very good interlude between Gilmour, who plays a solo with the original sound quality except for the echo, and Wright’s solemn synthesizer solo, but Waters’ vocals that follow are not lively. His usual style of singing as if he is squeezing out the words while twitching is hidden. In the interlude, Gilmour’s slide guitar plays an extreme phrase with a strong vibrato and a wide range of notes with high and low pitches. Waters’ vocals are still relaxed even in the third verse. The second part is “Dark Side Of The Moon”. When transitioning from “Speak to Me” to “Breathe”, the volume is very loud, which is a stark change from the previous day. Gilmour’s vocals have almost no extension, and the flat pitch remains unchanged. “On The Run” has a very loud sound effect, which is very powerful. “Time” is a stable performance, but Gilmour and Wright’s vocals do not extend, and they are only able to maintain the pitch, so it is not at a level where harmony can be built. “The Great Gig In The Sky” has a beautiful intro with Wright’s piano and Gilmour’s slide guitar, creating a harmony. The female chorus performs scatting with overwhelming volume in a deep echo. The transition to “Money” takes more than enough time, and ends with Wright’s solo. “Money” has Gilmour’s powerful shouting vocals that are not out of place here, and the saxophone blows intensely. The guitar solo is also long here. “Us And Them” is masked by the chorus of Gilmour and Wright with the loud and thick chorus of the female chorus. “Any Color You Like” does not include Wright’s synthesizer solo. It is recorded from the slow blues-like solo in the middle of Gilmour’s solo. There is no tension in Waters’ vocals in “Brain Damage” and “Eclipse”. The encore is “Echoes”, and the harmony between Gilmour and Wright here is passable for this period.
