Description
A new first-time sound source that transcends 45 years of time and space has been discovered! With the high-precision mastering of “GRAF ZEPPELIN”, which even makes full use of separate recordings, it has been decided to be permanently preserved as the first, longest and highest-quality definitive edition. The first-time sound source was recorded in “Philadelphia performance on June 29, 1977”. It is a vintage audience recording. The greatest attraction of this work is the show itself, which most people will have never heard before, and the tension of the tingling era that was the driving force behind “The Wall”. When was that show? First of all, let’s look back at the schedule at that time and imagine the position. “Animals” released on January 21st January 23rd-February 4th: Europe #1 (9 performances) February 17th-March 1st: Europe #2 (11 performances) March 15th-31st: UK (9 performances) April 22nd-May 12th: North America #1 (12 performances) June 15th-July 6th: North America #2 (14 performances) ←★Here★This is the 1977 “IN THE FLESH Tour”. The Philadelphia performance is set for two consecutive days on the final “North America #2”, and this work is the 9th performance on the second day. Yes, it was a concert after two performances of the super masterpiece “DEFINITIVE BOSTON 1977” that represents the tour. [New excavation where you can experience a show you have never heard before] Such a show was also a night in a hidden area that only core maniacs have heard until now. For a long time, it was not on the trade list as a “show without recording,” and when the recording was first found more than 10 years ago, the quality was not good enough to be a topic of conversation (in fact, the sound itself was not bad, but the stability was not good enough and it required considerable restoration to be immersed and enjoyed). As a result, it became a secret show where the completer only filled in the gaps in the schedule. However! That situation changed completely at the end of last year. A new “Recorder 2” was discovered, completely different from the conventional recording (Recorder 1). The quality is truly exquisite. It is difficult to imagine the super vivid sound of the Boston performance, but the powerful core penetrates the space clearly, and the lustrous sound vividly colors the unique mood of “IN THE FLESH Tour”. The best thing about it is the natural feeling of the scene. The stable master freshness is wonderful, and the neat taste of the recording itself is beautifully preserved in every detail. Of course, it is a world apart from “Recorder 1”, and even without processing, it is a beautiful recording that you will want to immerse yourself in forever. However, even if “unprocessed is enough”, as long as there is room for growth, it is human nature to want to pursue it. In this work, it was firmly polished with high-definition mastering by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. Of course, it is not a blind sound pressure earning or flashy decoration. Strict pitch correction and phase correction, balance adjustment by frequency analysis, noise processing …, while making full use of all means, adjustments were made to bring out the goodness of the recording rather than processing. [A tense full show heading towards The Wall] And even more than that, it is the longest. Cuts such as tape changes are supplemented with “Recorder 1”, making it a live album that allows you to experience almost the entire show seamlessly (strictly speaking, only the beginning of “Sheep” is missing in both recordings, but the rest are completely recorded). You might be thinking, “I’m going to be disappointed with the bad recording of Recorder 1,” but there’s no need to worry. As I mentioned earlier, the recording of “Recorder 1” itself is not bad… no, it’s pretty good. However, the tape rotation was very uneven, and it was quite difficult to repair the entire show. However, even if it’s not possible to do it all, it’s possible to do just the supplementary parts. I would like you to pay particular attention to the last song, “Us And Them.” This song uses “Recorder 1” in its entirety, but it sounds so great that you can’t tell the difference from the newly excavated “Recorder 2.” If you’ve experienced “Recorder 1,” you won’t think it’s the same recording. Such a beautiful sound depicts a full show that I’ve never heard before. This is also amazing. First of all, the band is in good shape. The opening “Sheep” is in great shape. The beat is powerful, and the groove that draws you in is cool. And the must-listen “Pigs On The Wing (Part 1)” follows. It starts with a gentle acoustic guitar melody, but perhaps fuelled by the good performance of the previous song, some of the audience set off firecrackers. Roger Waters, offended by this, stops the performance. “Please, stop it.” The performance quickly recovers and proceeds as if nothing had happened, but in the meantime, the fools continue to set off firecrackers, and the surrounding audience tries to calm them down by booing. Fortunately, Roger did not stop the show again, but if you think about it, the scene of this work is about a week before the famous “Montreal Spitting Incident”. Roger’s frustration and alienation that created “The Wall” did not just happen on that one day, but grew day by day. The sound of this work allows you to experience that tense tension beautifully. This year marks 45 years since the “IN THE FLESH Tour”. I can’t believe we can still experience a new full show. How many hidden treasure audiences are sleeping on this earth? A surprising new excavation that makes us realize the depth of such a customer recording culture. A newly excavated audience recording of “June 29, 1977 Philadelphia performance”. Although it is a show that has been little known until now, this is the longest and highest peak board, mainly based on “Recorder 2” released at the end of 2021, and the missed recording parts are complemented by the extremely rare “Recorder 1”. The main “Recorder 2” is a great recording with a strong core that penetrates the space clearly and has a lustrous sound. The high-definition mastering by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” maximizes the potential of the original sound, while the natural on-site feeling is also comfortable. This is a new masterpiece that allows you to realistically experience the tingly tension of “Pigs On The Wing (Part 1)”, where the performance stops to reprimand the firecrackers. (Remaster Memo) The main is Rec2 (mono Aud), which seems to have started to circulate recently. Rec1 (which seems to have been distributed in the 2000s) was used for compensation. Phase and pitch corrections were made as appropriate to fill in the missing parts. The performance part was completely recorded except for the intro of Sheep at the beginning. For US AND THEM, the main Rec2 is a fragment of about 1 minute, so this was not used and the entire Rec1 was used as a sub. However, Rec1 has been beautifully corrected for the original rotation unevenness, so this is a world of difference from the original sound source and is much better.
