Description

With the highly popular “MSG 1977 FINAL NIGHT” still fresh in our memory, another masterpiece has already appeared. This is the complete version of the famous recording polished by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” mastering. This work is recorded at the “July 3, 1977 Madison Square Garden performance”. It is an excellent audience recording that allows you to experience the whole story. Speaking of MSG in 1977, not only the aforementioned “MSG 1977 FINAL NIGHT” but also “DEFINITIVE MSG 1977” is a big classic. The overall picture of the tour has just been mentioned in the commentary of “MSG 1977 FINAL NIGHT”, so let’s take a closer look at the “North American #2 leg” here.・June 15th + 17th (2 shows) ・June 19th “CHICAGO 1977” ・June 21st + 23rd (2 shows) ・June 25th “ONE FLEW OVER THE BOARD (Cleveland)” ・June 27th “DEFINITIVE BOSTON 1977” ・June 28th: Philadelphia show ・June 29th “PHILADELPHIA 1977 2ND NIGHT” ・July 1st: MSG show ・July 2nd “DEFINITIVE MSG 1977” ・July 3rd: MSG show ←★This work★ ・July 4th “MSG 1977 FINAL NIGHT” ・July 6th “ROAR ENDS (Montreal)” ※Only representative masterpieces on each day. This is the “North America # 2 leg” from June to July 1977. We have archived a diverse lineup, but the MSG show is the final stage. There were four consecutive performances on “July 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th”. This work was the third performance among them. It was a show that connected “DEFINITIVE MSG 1977” and “MSG 1977 FINAL NIGHT”. Such shows have long been known to have famous recordings, and have been loved as “ANIMAL COPS (part)”. This work is based on that famous recording, while complementing the missing parts with other recordings. It is the longest and highest peak in the past. In order to understand the contents of the upgrade, let’s organize the records known to date. ・Source 1: Mono recording. Although it is not bad with the 3rd generation, the treble is harsh. ・Source 2: Mono recording. The best sound of the day. ←★Main of this work★ ・Source 3: Mono recording. The hiss is harsh and the sound is harsh. ・Source 4: Mono recording. The clearest recording after “Source 2”. ←★Sub of this work★ ・Source 5: Stereo. The sound is good in the 2nd generation, but the affinity is poor. Only two songs, “Money” and “Us And Them”. The above five types. I researched again, but the best is still the traditional recording “Source 2”. This work records many of the missing parts of “Source 2” and complements it with “Source 4”, which has a similar sound. Although there are very few cheers missing, it is the first complete live album that covers all the performance parts. Of course, it is not only the longest ever, but also the sound that runs through the entire work is the best ever. It has been polished with precision mastering by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”, and the pitch, phase, noise processing, and wow-flash are all adjusted with the highest precision. The phase is especially noticeable when listening to it. If you have experienced the previous releases, you may have the image that “MSG’s third day is left-leaning”, but that was a misunderstanding born by mistake. As mentioned above, “Source 2” was originally recorded in mono. There is no way that the positioning can shift left or right. So why did this happen? Phase shifts in vintage recordings occur mainly when the heads are slightly out of position during dubbing onto stereo cassettes. Of course, the more dubbing, the greater the shift becomes. However, this recording is also known for having almost no dubbing marks. In other words, even though it is a young generation that has not been dubbed much, for some reason only the phase was out of position. From here on, it is completely speculation, but perhaps it was intentionally processed to make it “stereo-like” during the distribution process. Of course, in modern times, such old-fashioned tricks are just a hindrance. In this work, the phase has been corrected and the sound has returned to mono sound. Not only has the sense of stability increased, but the original appearance of the recording has emerged realistically, and the affinity with “Source 4”, which was also a mono recording, has been greatly improved. It has been finished as a live album that allows you to immerse yourself in 45 years of live performance without any discomfort. With such a longest and highest peak sound, the tour is completed… No, it is a tense full show that will be connected to “The Wall” at a later date. “IN THE FLESH Tour” is also known for Roger’s frustration with fans who make firecracker noises, but this work is a show where the patience is broken. It is a show where the audience is yelling. The uneasy atmosphere explodes from the beginning. A firecracker goes off about a minute after “Pigs On The Wing Part 1” starts, but Roger sings calmly but can’t help but mutter “You cunt!” (but clearly). The irritation explodes in the following “Dogs”. At about two and a half minutes, firecrackers (or rather, explosive sounds like bombs) sound again. Roger also tries to concentrate on the song and the performance, but the string finally breaks when the re-explosion after the performance. With a trembling voice, he shouts “You stupid mother fxxker!” and slams the firecracker guy. The audience cheered loudly for his words, but Roger’s anger did not subside. He somehow managed to start “Pigs On The Wing part 2”, but the angry cutting sounded so strong that he lost sight of the composition. When he started playing again while saying “I made a mistake”, it was a rare and super realistic scene with raw emotions. The mood was tense after that. When he finished “Pigs (Three Different Ones)” and went into the break, he shouted “Don’t set off the fireworks!”, and before “Us And Them”, he said “Thank you for coming today to those who didn’t bring fireworks. We had fun too.” The next day, in “MSG 1977 FINAL NIGHT”, Roger seemed to have given up, and was fed up with the firecrackers, but in this work, he is quite aggressive in his anger. This is a full live album that brushes up on the famous recordings that had been left unfinished until now, and updates the longest and highest peak. It is a masterpiece as a single musical work, and a tremendous document that allows you to experience Roger’s anger up close. And it is an indispensable piece in the MSG masterpiece trilogy collection. A new masterpiece that cannot be avoided no matter how you enjoy it. Remastering memo The main source is mono Aud Rec2, the same sound source as the already released Sigma and STTP. The sub-source for compensation is mono Aud Rec4, and the performance parts are recorded completely for all songs (there are about two places where the cuts between songs cannot be compensated for). No compensation was done at all in the previous releases. Therefore, this is the first title to record the complete performance parts, although it is a pseudo. The main source had a large phase shift, so the phase was corrected. : After phase correction, it was converted to mono and the low frequencies were slightly corrected with EQ. Sound source organization Rec1…Mono Aud 3rd Gen Clear (ringing) on the high frequencies and slightly distant (Rank ○) Unused this time Rec2…Mono Aud Gen unknown, but sound quality is still the best ★Main source this time *Source from previous release and STTP release Rec3…Mono Aud Gen unknown (listed as Low) Low frequencies are present, but there is a lot of hiss and it is muddy (Rank △) Unused this time Rec4…Mono Aud Gen unknown Clear on the high frequencies, closer than Rec1, but more Aud noise (Rank ○) ★Sub sound source this time Rec5…Stereo Aud 2nd Gen Very close sound and high quality, but only two songs, Money and US (Sound is good but unused this time*) *Rec5 is a stereo Aud with a close sound and very good sound, but unfortunately only the final two songs are included. Considering the overall balance of the items, since the main source is mono, mixing this will create a foreign feeling (similar to the discomfort of mixing SB sound source with Aud sound source at a pinpoint), so this time it is not used. Disc 2 is full of recording time, so bonus recording is not possible. An excellent audience recording of “July 3, 1977 Madison Square Garden performance”. A famous recording that is well-known as the best is complemented by another recording. This is the decisive board that has evolved into the first complete live album that covers all the performance parts. Roger gets angry many times at the repeated firecrackers in “Pigs On The Wing Part 1” and “Dogs”, and the performance is disrupted in “Pigs On The Wing part 2” because of his anger. This is a new masterpiece that allows you to experience such a tense full show in the best full.
