Description
This work contains the “Brescia performance on June 19, 1971”. It is an 8mm film shot at the exact same location as the new masterpiece “DEFINITIVE BRESCIA 1971”. If you have noticed this work, you may know that 8mm films from the 1970s are often short, lasting from a few seconds to a few tens of seconds, and most of them do not have sound. This work is a compilation of such short images and overlaid with the sound from the day, and although it is only 4 minutes long, it is a video work that exudes the feeling of the era at that time. And the best way to check the type of fragrance is by the time. Let’s look back on 1971, when the “Atom Heart Mother” tour and the “Meddle” tour intersected. “ATOM HEART MOTHER World Tour” {January: Production of “Osekkai” begins} ・January 17th – February 27th: Europe #1 (10 performances) ・April 3rd – July 1st: Europe #2 (18 performances) ←★Here★ ・August 6th – 15th: Japan / Australia (5 performances) {August: “Osekkai” completed} ・September 18th – 30th: Europe #3 (5 performances) {October 4th – 7th: Filmed in Pompeii} ・October 10th + 11th: UK (2 performances) “MEDDLE Tour” ・October 15th – 31st: North America #1a (11 performances) {October 31st: “Osekkai” released} ・November 2nd – 20th: North America #1b (16 performances) ・December 26th: Appearance at Beat Club This is PINK FLOYD in 1971. The Brescia performance in this work is part of the “Atom Heart Mother” tour, and is a concert about one month before the group’s first visit to Japan. In other words, the same scent that is also found in the 8mm film of Hakone is floating around. As mentioned above, the fragmented footage is the main focus from the third song, but in fact the best part may be before the show starts. Since the filming was done while the venue was still light, you can see the scene clearly, and the wooden stage like a gymnasium and the audience sitting casually waiting for the performance are full of the feeling of the era. Then, an MC introducing each member is overlaid on it. It’s irresistible that this MC is in Italian. The MC first appeared on the CD “BRESCIA 1971” last year, but you can witness the “other side” of it. Of course, the performance scene is also full of mood. Since it’s a dark venue, you can’t see their expressions or hands, but the red lights like the sunset create a sense of fantasy, and the golden drum kit is really psychedelic. The flash of the venue and the film’s running noise perfectly depict the atmosphere of rock in 1970. Again, this is only a 4-minute video. Even though it is overlaid with PINK FLOYD’s finest live sound source, it cannot be denied that the priority is on the preciousness and mood. However, the scent of “1971” that emanates from that short time is too strong. They themselves inhale and wait for the era when progressive rock was in full swing.
