Description

The famous recording of the continental European edition of “IN THE FLESH Tour” has been brushed up. It has been decided to release it on 2CD with the highest peak update sound by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. This work is engraved with the “February 25, 1977 Paris performance”. It is the best audience recording. Speaking of the masterpieces of “IN THE FLESH Tour”, there is an image that it is concentrated in North America, but of course, our shop archives the European edition with as many masterpieces as possible. Among them, “Paris” is also a fierce battlefield that has produced many masterpieces. In order to understand the situation, let’s first explore the position of the show from the activity outline at that time. “Animals” released on January 21st. January 23rd – February 4th: Europe #1 (9 performances) ←※ DORTMUND 1977 2ND NIGHT etc. February 17th – March 1st: Europe #2 (11 performances) ←★Here★ March 15th – 31st: UK (9 performances) ←※ WEMBLEY 1977 1ST NIGHT etc. April 22nd – May 12th: North America #1 (12 performances) ←※ ULTIMATE OAKLAND etc. June 15th – July 6th: North America #2 (14 performances) ←※ ULTIMATE BOSTON 1977 etc. This is PINK FLOYD in 1977. It is largely divided into two parts, “first half = Europe / second half = North America”, and the first half of Europe is divided into three parts with an off-day in between. The Paris performance of this work was one of the “Europe #2” acts, which is the middle part of the show. Let’s focus on the schedule further. Details of “Europe #2” ・February 17-19: Rotterdam (3 performances) *February 20 “ANTWERP ZOO” *February 22 “FUNHOUSE (Paris)” ・February 23: Paris performance (2nd day) *February 24 “PARIS 1977 3RD NIGHT: FM BROADCAST” *February 25: Paris performance ←★This work★ ・February 27-March 1: Munich (3 performances) … and so on. The breakdown is Rotterdam (3 performances) / Antwerp (1 performance) / Paris (4 performances) / Munich (3 performances). A few years ago, the discovery of “PARIS 1977 3RD NIGHT: FM BROADCAST” became a hot topic, but this work is a different concert the day after that. The Paris recording, whose evaluation changed drastically due to its natural orientation. This show has been known since the 1990s, but it wasn’t until the 2010s that the definitive master appeared. The famous “ANIMALS AUX ABATTOIRS” was familiar. This work is also the same best master, but it is not a copy that has already been released. It is the highest peak update that went back to the original and was refinished with the meticulous mastering of “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. In the first place, the true identity of the best master that is the basis of this work is the secret master that the famous collector “Neonknight” released in 2011. However, the old version “ANIMALS AUX ABATTOIRS” was not the master itself, but a remastered version by Harvested. At that time, it was the loudness war era, so the Harvested version was called the best, but after that the collector world leaned towards a natural orientation. Nowadays, the “original Neonknight master” is more highly rated. Meticulous mastering that faithfully reproduces the “sound of the scene” In fact, when listening to the old Harvested master (although it was beautiful at the time), distortion occurs due to the mastering that emphasizes the contours when listened to by modern standards, and it was especially noticeable in the soft parts such as between songs. What was even more unnatural was the handling of the tape deterioration parts. For example, the sound was faint around “4:50” and “9:30” in “Sheep” on the original tape, but the Harvested master pasted other parts. Although it was smoothly connected at first listen, it was also a source of discomfort in terms of performance. Unlike such old versions, this work is refinished from the “original Neonknight master”. Of course, the original sound is not simply pressed, but this work has been uniquely mastered for this work, but this time the sound is not processed. It is all about reducing aging deterioration and adjusting the balance without destroying the natural feeling. In other words, instead of creating a flashy processed sound, it is a faithful reproduction of the “sound that was sounded on the scene”. In other words, it is mastering like the restoration of a painting (the truth of the performance is given top priority, and the aforementioned faint sound is left as it is). “PARIS 1977 3RD NIGHT: FM BROADCAST” also attracted attention for the impact of unearthing the broadcast sound source, but the final day recording wins in terms of sound quality. This work is a live album that brings out the best of such famous recordings in a natural state. A new masterpiece that will further enrich the “IN THE FLESH Tour” collection. The latest remaster of Finkployd49 Cassette / Neonknight TapeTransfer (2011), which is considered to be the best at the moment! The sound is very close to the stereo Aud sound source, and the super-high quality sound source with no cuts other than disc changes has been updated for the first time in a long time! Due to the good sound quality, this live performance was already released under the title “PARIS 1977” in 1991, at the dawn of CD items, with only the second half of the live performance “Flame”. The Harvested (HRV) version used last time was originally a remaster of the same Neonknight by HRV, but it was processed with HRV’s unique quirks and persistent pinpoint microphone noise and sound cut removal, which may seem excessive. This version is a natural mastering that makes the most of the characteristics of the original sound source. The previous version had a drop-down at around 1kHz, which made the sound quite tight, but there was a slightly quirky texture between songs that was often heard in dadgad remasters. However, this version has no such problems and has a natural texture. Of course, the minimum EQ has been applied to the whole, and the low range has been boosted slightly, which makes the drive of the performance feel more natural. In addition, there is no fake processing of several sound cuts and faint parts that were applied by HRV this time. For example, the sound cuts and faint parts seen at Sheep 4:48 and 9:24 on this version were copied and pasted by HRV, making the performance sound strange, but this version is the original recording as it is. In addition, the audience noise part at the beginning of Disc 2 is recorded about 3 seconds longer than the previous version. The best audience recording of the “February 25, 1977 Paris performance”. The best master released by famous collector “Neonknight” has been refinished by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” to create the highest peak update. The sound that was distorted in the previous version has been revived super natural, and the “on-site sound output” has been faithfully reproduced with meticulous mastering. This is a new masterpiece that will further enrich the European leg collection of the “IN THE FLESH Tour” with few sound sources.
