Description
The 1970 “Bath Festival” where the world’s first brass/chorus “Atom Heart Mother” was performed. The legendary live album that conveys a historic night has been upgraded. It has been decided to release it on the highest peak updated sound CD by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. This work is engraved with the “June 27, 1970 Shepton Mallet performance”. It is an audience recording of the appearance at the “Bath Festival Of Blues And Progressive Music”, which is also recorded for mobilizing 150,000 people. Speaking of 1970, it was the time when they were making the revolutionary “Atom Heart Mother” while continuing to tour energetically. First of all, let’s take a bird’s-eye view of the activities at that time in the schedule and organize our collection.・January 10th – February 28th: Europe #1 (18 shows) ←※LIVE AT LEEDS, etc.《March 1st: Production of “Atom Heart Mother” begins》・March 5th – 30th: Europe #2 (15 shows) ←※NUREMBERG 1970, etc.・April 9th - May 16th: North America #1 (17 shows) ←※FILLMORE WEST 1970, etc.《Tour interrupted due to equipment theft》・June 27th – July 26th: Europe #3 (7 shows) ←★Here★《July 26th: Recording of “Atom Heart Mother” finished》・August 8th – September 12th: Europe #4 (4 shows)・September 26th – October 25th: North America #2 (20 shows) ←※PEPPERLAND 1970, etc.・November 6th – December 22nd: Europe #5 (21 shows) ←※HANOVER 1970 and others: This is PINK FLOYD in 1970. The US tour in early spring was interrupted by an equipment theft incident in New Orleans, and started again from “Europe #3” about one day later. This section also contains masterpieces such as “KRALINGEN MUSIC FESTIVAL 1970” and “HYDE PARK 1970”, which were recently permanently preserved. Let’s focus on the dates further. Details of “Europe # 3” * June 27: Bus Festival ← ★ This work ★ * June 28 “KRALINGEN MUSIC FESTIVAL 1970” ・ July 12: Aachen performance * July 16 “BBC 1970 / 1971 (part)” * July 18 “HYDE PARK 1970” ・ July 22 + 26 (2 performances) 《Recording of “Atom Heart Mother” ended on July 26》 Compensation for the deteriorated premiere “Atom Heart Mother” with professional shot sound … and so on. This work’s appearance at the “Bus Festival” was the first day of “Europe # 3”. In other words, it was also the first shot of the tour resumption. This show has been known for its famous recordings for a long time, but this work is a new masterpiece that updates its peak. The foundation is a DAT copy of the reel master unearthed by the famous collector “Neonknight” about 10 years ago. Although various branches have been excavated since then, the basic sound quality is excellent, and it is still the best master. However, this DAT copy had a major drawback. The essential “The Amazing Pudding (Atom Heart Mother)” had tape deterioration and the sound was quite distorted. It is a live album that perfectly reproduces the historic premiere with a sound suitable for permanent preservation. The key to the upgrade was the pro shot of the same day. “The Amazing Pudding (Atom Heart Mother)” on this day is famous not only for its audience recording but also for its black and white pro shot video, but this work makes use of that sound. The part where the tape deterioration occurred is replaced with a pro shot sound. Moreover, this pro shot sound was compatible with the long audience recording of the foundation. Of course, the sound image is similar with precise mastering, but the switching part is extremely natural. It is a live album with almost no sense of incongruity. The highest peak updated sound realized by an extraordinary level of detailed mastering Of course, this work is not limited to the complementary parts, but the detailed mastering of “GRAF ZEPPELIN” is carried out throughout the entire work. Pitch / phase correction that does not allow even 1/1000th of a second of deviation and various noise processing are also meticulously applied. Phase correction was particularly effective this time. Since this recording was originally mono, you might think that phase correction is meaningless, but in fact this is particularly important for the detailed mastering of “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. As is common in the 70s, the original master of this recording is recorded in mono on stereo tape. The same mono recording is recorded on the left and right channels, but in fact the deterioration is different between the right and left, and a phase shift also occurs here. In most cases, conventional boards digitize stereo tapes with a phase shift as they are, and the stereo feeling is slightly biased (despite being mono recording). In that respect, this work is converted to mono after strictly aligning the phase. The main aim of this is to “reconstruct the best parts of the left and right channels”. “GRAF ZEPPELIN” combines the best parts of the left and right channels to create a full live album. Moreover, the part selection does not miss even a momentary deterioration of less than zero comma. This is where the “phase correction” mentioned earlier comes into play. Because it is precisely aligned, even if the left and right channels are switched, there is no sense of incongruity in the performance, and a full live album that is so natural that you would not know (even if you knew) that meticulous work had been done has been realized. “Atom Heart Mother” was performed for the first time in the world with the participation of the “John Alldis Choir” and the “Philip Jones Brass Ensemble”. This is a live album that permanently preserves the full show with the highest peak updated sound. The historic premiere was restored using pro shot sound, and the entire show was updated to the highest peak with “GRAF ZEPPELIN”‘s obsessive mastering. It is nothing but a cultural heritage. Remastering Memo The Amazing Pudding (Atom Heart Mother) was performed for the first time with a brass band and chorus in 1970, and this is the first time it has been released on a label! Based on the familiar 2013 master transfer by Neonknight, the final part of The Amazing Pudding (AHM), which has problems with the sound source, has been replaced with the sound of a professional shot video and recorded in full length! The main part has been completely mono-corrected after pitch correction and phase correction, and the sound bias has been eliminated. The final part of The Amazing Pudding has been thoroughly remastered and recorded with the sound of the professional shot video of the day! Luckily, the only video of the day was The Amazing Pudding, but it was filmed in a complete take of 26 minutes, and it appeared in the early ’00s under titles such as “Mind Your Mother” (DVD), which became quite a hot topic. It was also included in the Early Years Box in recent years, but there it was recorded for less than 4 minutes, and the sound was covered with BBC ’70, which was an unexpected result. This time, The Amazing Pudding, which has problems with volume reduction and tape speed fluctuations in the main sound source, has been replaced with the video and audio in its entirety. Although the bandwidth has been adjusted, it is lucky that this video and audio has a very similar texture to the main Aud mono sound source, and it is a mystery that it is difficult to tell whether it is SB or microphone-recorded Aud (*For some reason, there is also something like microphone noise in the same place as Aud at the beginning of the performance). However, the “Mind Your Thoats Please” part from around 17:40 is a tape playback part, and there is no live audio recorded here (it is not a cut, but the tape is moving forward but there is no sound and only tape noise) (is this proof of audio via SB?), but this part can be heard clearly in the main Aud sound source this time, so it has been patched in for about 2 and a half minutes. The part including MC after the live performance (just under 30 seconds) was not originally recorded in the main Aud sound source, so this is the longest recording ever, the highest quality decision board. This is the legendary audience recording of the “June 27, 1970 Bus Festival Performance,” where the world’s first brass/chorus performance of “Atom Heart Mother” was performed. This is the highest peak update of the existing best reel master DAT copy polished by “GRAF ZEPPELIN,” and the deteriorated “The Amazing Pudding” is complemented with pro-shot audio. This is a cultural heritage album that has been polished with meticulous mastering of extraordinary precision throughout the entire album.
