Description

“THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” is the first concept work that marked the conclusion of early PINK FLOYD and determined their future direction. The highest peak updated edition of the symbolic live album will be preserved forever. [FLOYD’s first concept work “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY”] “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY” is the first step for the concept king PINK FLOYD, and depicts the group’s repeated trial and error attempts to establish their identity after losing Sid. It was a masterpiece of its time. This is a musical work that is mainly composed of songs from “The Whistle of the Dawn” to “More” and has been reorganized into two parts, “THE MAN” and “THE JOURNEY.” was only performed. In the end, it was not produced as a studio work, but one act of the tour, “September 17, 1969 Amsterdam Performance”, was broadcast on the radio. The FM soundboard has been loved for many years as an “official replacement” music album that conveys FLOYD’s first concept work. Nowadays, it is not only semi-official, but also officially made official as part of the box “THE EARLY YEARS 1965-1972”, but this work updates its highest peak. It is a super definitive edition that surpasses many previous releases and official editions in both length and sound. Before we get into the surprising content, let’s start with the show’s position. A live disc of “UMMAGUMMA” was also produced from “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY TOUR”, so let’s check it out as well. [January-February “More” production] March 27th + April 14th: UK #1 (2 performances) April 19th + 23rd: West Germany (2 performances) April 26th – May 16th Sun: UK #2 (9 performances) ← *Umaguma (live) ・May 24th-June 10th: UK #3a (7 performances)《“More” released on June 13th》・June 13th-26th Sunday: UK #3b (9 performances), September 17th + 24th: Netherlands (2 performances) ←★Here★《“Umaguma” released on November 7th》 [Uncut version of the master tape that updates the highest peak] This is PINK FLOYD in 1969. A tour was held in the spring after the production of “More”. There will be a break in June, but two performances in the Netherlands have been added in early autumn. The Amsterdam performance of this work was on such a September night. As mentioned above, the soundboard recorded at such a show has been recognized as having equal or higher value than the official work, but this work is one that has updated its height. It is a supreme masterpiece that has been precisely digitized completely uncut from the pre-FM master tape of the broadcasting station “VPRO”. Let me repeat here to avoid misunderstandings: “Pre-FM” does not refer to the original broadcast LP. The master tape before that. In other words, the “original sound” itself, which has never been converted into a physical groove, is contained. In fact, the contents are surprising. It is clear that it is a master master as it is about 5 minutes longer than the official version where “Teatime” was cut, but it is even longer than the previously released “THE PINK JUNGLE: THE 68/69 PRE-FM RECORDINGS” with a similar concept. It is an uncut version of 1 hour 21 minutes 27 seconds that cannot fit on one CD. Moreover, not only the length but also the sound is the best ever. It has a wonderful freshness that makes the scales fall from your ears, and the natural sound penetrates your heart. Of course, “THE PINK JUNGLE” was also superlative, but when you listen to it with headphones, you can feel the deterioration (albeit subtle). This was especially noticeable in the high-pitched sounds, where there was a noticeable attenuation in the sound of hi-hats and other sounds. This is just a guess, but maybe the master of “THE PINK JUNGLE” was at the limit of the transfer technology at the time, or maybe there was some kind of digital processing during the distribution process… In any case, there is no such deterioration in this work, and the natural beauty of the analog master flows out as it is. [A full live album that is the culmination of the early stages and the origin of the concept path] This is the concept king’s first masterpiece, with the highest sound ever. As mentioned above, it consists of two parts, “THE MAN” and “THE JOURNEY,” and the performance is a rearranged version of the previous repertoire. The title has also been changed, so let’s organize the content here. Part 1: THE MAN (DISC 1) 1. Introduction 2. Daybreak → Band arrangement of “Grantchester Farm” 3. Work → Free-form song with percussion and vibraphone 4. Teatime → Drinking tea on stage ★Cut entirely on the official edition★ 5. Afternoon → “Biding My Time” 6. Doing It → “Entertainment” from “The Governor’s Garden Party Trilogy” 7. Sleep → “Quicksilver” 8. Nightmare/ Daybreak (Part 2) → “Cimbaline” 9. Labyrinth → “Exit” of “The Lord’s Garden Party Trilogy” Part 2: THE JOURNEY (DISC 2) 1. The Beginning → “Green is the Color” 2. Beset By The Creatures Of The Deep → “Eugene, Watch Out For The Axe” 3. The Narrow Way → “Part 3” of “The Narrow Way Trilogy” 4. The Pink Jungle → “Pow R・Tok H” 5. The Labyrinths Of Auximenes → Middle part of “In Search of the Light” 6. Footsteps/Doors → HOUSEHOLD OBJECTS Footsteps similar to the percussion part of “The Hard Way” 7. Behold The Temple Of Light → ” An expanded version of the first few seconds of “Narrow Way Trilogy: Part 3” 8. The End Of The Beginning -> “Celestial Voices” from “Mystery”…and it looks like this. A collection of early masterpieces has been reconstructed as a gigantic suite, and numerous sound effects such as footsteps, clocks, and crowds also appear. It is full of essence that is directly connected to “madness” all at once. It is a masterpiece of musical innovation, along with “Umaguma” and “Atom Shinbo”, and is the origin album of the concept king. This is a two-disc set that stands at the highest peak in history. A historical super masterpiece that boasts a value equal to or greater than the official masterpieces. A live album that symbolizes the first concept work “THE MAN AND THE JOURNEY”. This is a superb stereo soundboard recording of “September 17, 1969 Amsterdam Performance”. Although it is a sound board that has been made official as part of the box, this work is the highest version that has been digitized uncut from the station master tape. Not only is it more than 5 minutes longer than the official version, it is also longer than the longest previous release, and the sound is overwhelmingly natural. It is a masterpiece of musical innovation, along with “Umagma” and “Atom Shinbo”, and is a historical masterpiece that is the origin of the conceptual path that followed “Madness”.
