Description
If you consider yourself a Floyd collector, this is an absolutely must-have title. The definitive set title of the London Festival Hall performance on April 14, 1969, all recorded with the venerable master. The Man part in the first half includes a take made from a 2nd Gen cassette tape that was copied from a cassette that Taper recorded with a dictaphone type (dictation recording and playback device for shorthand) at the time (Recorder 1). The second half, The Journey, includes takes copied from the 2nd Gen tape from the reel tape recorded by another taper (Recorder 2). Both are Raw Transter versions from the tape (Maxell XLII) of “Jon R.”, who is currently considered the youngest of the generation. The Man is a direct dubbing from the master, and The Journey is a 2nd Gen dubbing of a cassette copy from a reel. Although it contains hiss, the vintage sound that feels like the master itself is wonderful, and of course it is for enthusiasts, but it is extremely valuable both historically and as a document. Like the 1970 Bass Festival RAW TRANSFER that will be released this time, you can experience the original sound without the sense of equalization and correction heard in the Ayanami version 10 years ago. The rock operas “The Man” and “The Journey” were performed only a few times from 1969 to the early 1970s. A must-have for fans, recording the legendary London premiere of this rock opera with the best sound ever. Even more surprising is the approximately 25-minute rehearsal take of the day that was recorded on the third disc. It was released in the past under the title “REHEARSALS AT ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL 1969” and includes an upgraded version of the black and white professional shot footage familiar to fans. Compared to the previous releases, the low generation is obvious, and this time, it is recorded in high quality that seems to be the master itself, without any dubbing traces. You can tell the difference with just one shot on the screen, so if you have a chance to compare it with a previous one, you’ll be surprised at the obvious difference. It’s a great value to get just this one piece! The original version is 16mm film, and Anthony Stern, who owns the film, recorded it onto a VHS tape, which was then converted into a DVDR. This album is a very valuable rehearsal and sound check at the time that only those involved could see, and a single camera clearly records it with wonderful close-up footage, and shows Floyd on stage in 1969. It has become a first-class resource item for understanding. The album starts with the bluesy Biding My Time. Everyone’s eyes are glued to the close-up video of Roger and Gilmore playing Green Is The Color with two acoustic guitars. At the ending, Roger switches to the bass and goes into Eugne’s intro. The backing for this part is done on a piano. After the middle instrumental part of Cymbaline is over, we enter a band meeting led by Roger. The scene where Nick plays the drums in time with Roger’s early rhythm machine is a must-see. In the stage footage from the audience seats, a scene in which Roger silently hits the xylophone is recorded. The highlight is the scene where the end theme of “Mystic” is played on the pipe organ installed at Rick’s venue, and the scene in which the camera takes pictures of the instruments and equipment on stage with the organ improvisation in the background is of great historical value. there is. This time, not only the video has been upgraded, but the audio has also been carefully corrected for problems such as noise, and has also been properly equalized, achieving the best version of this work. Comes with original menu. This is the youngest version of the take recorded for the first time on April 14, 1969 at the Royal Festival Hall concert in London, and an upgraded version of the rehearsal footage.
