Description
Recorder 1 recorded the first day of Floyd’s six consecutive performances at Wembley in March 1977 with great sound. A 2-CD set containing the bootleg LP “KNOBS”, which made its existence known to the world in the late 1970s, in its entirety from the original! Fans all over the world knew the first day of six consecutive Wembley performances in March 1977. The analog bootleg LP “KNOBS”. As you know, this analog version was released in 1979 by THE IMPOSSIBLE RECORDWORKS as a two-disc set with a black and white monotone jacket, “KNOBS (IMP 2-15)”, and in the early 1980s, it was reissued with a more colorful version than TOASTED RECORDS in the US. “KNOBS (2S 907)”, a 2-disc set of deluxe full color jackets, is now available. To be honest, in terms of the speed of release, “GIANT BARN DANCE (PF3077 A/B)” and its sister edition “30KW P.A. (PF3077 C/D)” were released here in Japan in 1977. However, among the analog discs containing Wembley in 1977, many sound source fans will remember the “KNOBS” LP. Although the jackets are different, both “KNOBS” LPs have exactly the same content, but unfortunately, the current situation is that the original LP is rarely seen or heard. Therefore, in conjunction with the release of Sigma’s latest work “WEMBLEY 1977 1st NIGHT”, we have prepared a complete disc transferred from the original “KNOBS” master so that you can try this nostalgic analog sound. By the way, this “KNOBS” LP uses the same Recorder 1 as the newly discovered tape source used for discs 1 and 2 of Sigma’s latest work “WEMBLEY 1977 1st NIGHT”, but even with the same source, it is the original master. This is a different generation source that followed a different route, so you can see some differences. In particular, there are big differences in individuality in terms of sound quality, and although the raw gene tape discovered this time naturally wins in terms of clarity and master direct feeling, the “KNOBS” LP is slightly lacking in clarity. On the other hand, it has a direct feeling of dense sound, and it is characterized by allowing you to fully enjoy the massive sound attack that Floyd was releasing at the time. In particular, the depth of volume that is noticeable in the mid to low range is quite impressive even when listening to modern acoustics, and the euphoria of the choking sound is unique to this KNOBS source. Also, the “Flame” set, which was actually the second half of the show, is on sides A and B (= disc 1 of this work), and the “Animals” set, which was actually the first half of the show, is on sides C and D (= The analog bootleg features of the time are still intact, such as being recorded on disc 2) of this work, and “Us And Them”, which was recorded as the second song on side D, is also intact on disc 2-(6). It is recorded. As you know, this “Us And Them” is said to be performed on March 19, 1977 (* 5th performance of 6 Wembley performances), but another source says that “Us And Them” was actually performed on the 19th. And Them” was not played, so it is unclear exactly which year and date it was played. This seems to be a sign that an attempt was made to make effective use of the recording time slot left on side D of the LP during the production of the LP, but the encore song for this 1977 Wembley 6 DAYS was either “Money” or “Us And Them” depending on the day. ” was played (* “Money” was played on the first two days and “Us And Them” was entered on the second half, but there seemed to be no encore on some days), giving a sense of completeness to the show. It may have been additionally recorded to release. On the other hand, new discoveries were made by comparing with the newly discovered tape source. For example, the applause after the performance of “Dogs” and “Pigs On The Wing part 2” that can be heard on this “KNOBS” LP turns out to be a fake patched from another sound source, and the “KNOBS” source also includes “Shine”. From the end of “On You… 6-9” to the start of “Money,” there are approximately 20 seconds of audience scene and register sound that do not exist on the new tape source, and you can hear the difference just by listening to it. Many things come into view. After all, with the advent of this new tape source, Recorder 1 has only just begun its comparative examination. Compared to this nostalgic classic LP, the more you listen to it, the more details become clear…This is a special item prepared with that in mind.
