Description
In 1971, Pink Floyd’s Recorder 2 using the Reel Master appeared for the first time in the world at the Brescia concert in Italy! The master sound, which was only 2 meters away from the stage and went beyond the front row, had never been seen before. We will show you the performance date that you could not see in super high quality sound!! June 19, 1971, Brescia, Italy. Of this Italy 2DAYS where I stayed for two days, the sound source of the Rome performance on the 20th is relatively well known, but the Brescia performance on the 19th is probably not so familiar. On this day, there are many titles from overseas manufacturers such as “AN ITALIAN TALE” and fan-made titles in circulation, as well as analog discs such as “LIVE IN BRESCIA 20/6/71″, In 2012, “BRESCIA 19 GIUGNO – ORE 21.30”, a 3-disc set of color vinyl LP labeled 41st anniversary edition with color posters and inserts, appeared as a valuable collector’s item, mainly in Europe. Many titles have been released and are gaining popularity. However, all of these previously released records use Recorder 1, and although there are differences in sound quality depending on the generation, the current situation is that all of them use the same source. However, just the other day in mid-February, the world’s first Recorder 2, which recorded this day’s events on reel tape, appeared on the Internet with ultra-high quality master sound, shocking fans all over the world. The sound quality, which was recorded on Scotch reel tape using a portable recorder “Geloso G570”, was so vivid that it could only be described as astonishing, and it included many first-time scenes that had never been heard before. It is. One of them is the band introduction scene by an Italian announcement in the venue that can be heard at the beginning of this disc. At this point, the massive and clear sound unique to Reel has already expanded and the expected value exceeds the red zone, but as a further topic, the sound is strangely too close to the normal AUD recording, and I almost faint. It is. Why is that? Actually, this Recorder 2 is certainly an AUD recording recorded inside the venue, but the recording position is not the usual audience seats. It was recorded from a special area set up further in front of the front row, a special section where only band-approved photographers and press personnel were allowed to enter or move. The distance is only 2 meters from the stage. The recorder and microphone were placed in this ideal position, which is usually impossible, and the sound of the scene was contained with the direct sound pressure of the front row, the closeness and clarity of the sound!! On the other hand, it was not without its drawbacks. Unfortunately, some scenes have partially deteriorated over time, and the last three songs from the show were lost (probably because the tape ran out of space), making it an incomplete recording. It is. However, this is where Recorder 1, which has been the main source until now, comes into play.Recorder 1 boasts a high enough quality even under normal conditions, but this time we will use “3rd gen stratcat58 tapes”, which boast the highest sound quality among them, as supplementary material. The best recovery was achieved. This makes the most of the high-quality newly excavated reel master sound source, and makes up for the missing parts with the Recorder 1/3rd gen stratcat58 tapes version, making this 1971 Brescia boasting amazing sound quality and volume. This quality of sound and the closeness of the sound…it’s truly extraordinary. “Atom Heart Mother” has partial deterioration, so 2:03-18 and 12:20-35 are compensated with Recorder 1, but it appears with a very deep sound, and you can discern every detail. You will be stunned by the ultra-close sound and amazing resolution and high sound quality. Interestingly, just after 2:18 when Recorder 1 returns to Recorder 2, a rumbling sound that is not very familiar to such recordings can be heard. Judging from the sound, it seems that the recorder was placed in a narrow luggage storage area surrounded by hard objects (walls? metal?), and from this sound, it seems like a vivid recording that is not in the recording environment that is normally expected. It sounds like a documentary. By the way, this strange sound appears just before the end of “Careful With That Ax, Eugene” (*The sound of something hard surrounding the recorder creaking), but of course the best part to listen to is when Recorder 1 is turned on. The overall sound quality of the song exceeds this. The AUD recordings are so close that it’s confusing, and the AUD recordings are even clearer, especially when it comes to the hi-hat notches, which capture the vibrations of the live sound in front of you rather than the sounds picked up from the microphone. Writing it down will convey the image more accurately, and it will give you a much higher level of auditory satisfaction. “Fat Old Sun” also has an overwhelming sense of transparency and closeness of sound, and the dynamic output across the entire band makes me worry about how many people will be in agony. What I would especially like to pay attention to is the sound of the ride cymbal, and I think most people have never experienced the sound image of the hitting sound so close to that recorded by AUD. The guitar also emits a dazzling sound that can be heard nearby, and its clarity and output are shockingly amazing, and in some scenes you can feel the euphoria of the unbelievable tone and the sense of direct impact. I’m sure it will burn. It should also be noted that the weak sounds that seem to fade away are recorded really beautifully. On this day, Disc 2’s “Embryo” has a equipment problem where the vocal microphone suddenly turns off for about 15 seconds in the first half of the song (* 1:41-56), but this also shows that the sound suddenly cuts out. You will be surprised to hear the realistic sound from a very close distance. These sounds, which are full of the feeling of being on site, clearly convey the characteristics of this song, that is, how the sound and resonance give form to something that cannot be expressed in words. At the same time, the expression of the performance changes dynamically and three-dimensionally before your eyes. I think you will be amazed at the rare sound potential that will emerge. And in “The Return Of The Son Of Nothing”, everyone will take their breath away at the trajectory and lingering sound of that sound. The mid-to-low range, which perfectly captures the expression of the sound with overwhelming sound pressure and resolution, beautifully conveys the flow of a romantic image that leaps forward, and what I want you to pay attention to above all is the 22nd track, which is near the final song: It’s from 07. Here, you can see the four of them layering their own guide vocals towards the coda, and no recording of any performance has ever captured this scene in such high resolution and close-up sound. I’m sure you didn’t. Please enjoy this rare moment when you can feel the song from a completely new and unexperienced sonic perspective. The recording of such Recorder 2 ends in the first half of “Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun”, but the sound remains in the reel master up to a partial part of the first half. If you write it out in detail, 0:00 to 0:21 is Recorder 1 (compensation), 0:22 to 2:25 is Recorder 2, and 2:26 to the end of the track is Recorder 1 (compensation). The sound of Recorder 2 still exists only in this halfway section from 0:22 to 2:25, but this too was perfectly adjusted with a waveform of 1/1000 and combined with Recorder 1, and the existing Recorder 2 All of the original sound is used. Although it is only about 2 minutes long, the ultra-class sound violently shakes the listener’s heart until the end, and the bridge from Recorder 2 to Recorder 1 is also truly moving and a great listening experience. . Of course, from here on out, the next three songs = until the end of the show will be dominated by Recorder 1, but this Recorder 1 has also been remastered in 2020 using extremely high-quality sources by Sigma’s talented engineers. did. In “Cymbaline”, Dave’s echoed singing voice is depicted even more clearly, and the way he sings with a slight change in the chorus part, as he did in the Rome performance the next day, is also contained in the best form. “A Saucerful Of Secrets” also features a sound image that is full of euphoria, with the strange wave of sound that fills the venue from the beginning, and the expansion of the propulsion and song from the middle onwards, which is obtained by adding rhythm. Therefore, even with Recorder 1, the high-quality sound continues until the end of the disc. At the same time as the Brescia performance on June 19th, the Rome performance “ROME 1971″ on the 20th of June will also be released by Sigma with a shocking upper sound, but this is the only Italian performance in 1971 for 2 DAYS, which is the best sound quality record at the moment. We have decided to come together as a group. These two titles are very important in that sense, as they will allow us to follow the impulses we received at Hakone Aphrodite and Osaka, which will be coming to Japan for the first time in 1971, in about a month. There seems to be no doubt that this will be the case. Please pick up this work and “ROME 1971” and experience the excitement of being filled with the depth and knowledge of this sound. A plan to make the most of the new sound source, which has higher sound quality than the previous releases, and fill in the missing parts with the previous releases. The new sound source is correct for Atom Heart Mother, but after that, it randomly goes up by more than a semitone, so it’s just an adjustment that doesn’t feel strange.
