Description
A 1 hour and 31 minute recording of the audience recording take that appeared for the first time, which appeared at the end of last year and became a hot topic among Floyd maniacs. This take is a cassette that a German collector received as a birthday present from a friend in 1978, which he digitized and released last year. There is a photo of the announced cassette index on the inside of the jacket, so if you have purchased it, please take a look. 2 songs (21 minutes) from Hannover on November 27th, 3 songs (30 minutes) from Hannover on November 27th, and 5 songs (41 minutes) from Münster on February 24th, 1971 are listed on the B side along with the song titles. did. The total recording time was 91 minutes, and these were new sound sources that had never been released before. Even more surprising is the quality of the sound. Each of the three performances is the first appearance, and it is almost impossible to say that all of them have high sound quality even according to modern standards, but it is true. In particular, the Munster sound source had surprisingly high sound quality and was at a level that stunned the fans. Of these three performances, only the Hamburg performance on November 14th has been made into a sound disc, the others are unbooted and dates for which no tape exists. However, the date on this cassette is incorrect, and the Hannover performance that was written as November 27th was actually held in Hamburg on the 14th. As mentioned above, only the Humble performance has been available in the past, and the definitive version is “Corrossion” on the Sirene label. As you can see by comparing it with this previous release, this part is definitely a different source on the same day, and the last three songs on side A of the tape can be determined to be from the Hamburg performance. The 41 minutes of the Münster performance on side B of the cassette is the first appearance of Münster itself, so I think it’s safe to believe this. The only thing I don’t understand is that the first two songs on side A of the tape (Astronomy Domine and Fat Old Sun) are spoken in German and with a northern accent. (I checked with a Floyd hard collector in Europe.) So this is definitely a German performance. Since the opening song is Astronomy Domine and the second song is Fat Old Sun, this is a set that would not have been possible unless it was a live performance in November 1970, so the corresponding German performances will be the following 7 performances. We were able to confirm that all performances were different compared to the previous ones, so the possibilities would be Hannover on November 27th, Saarbrücken on the 28th, and Hamburg on December 3rd. This is just a guess, but I think it’s highly likely that the tape index dates have been swapped. (If there is any doubt in the first place, there is no proof that there is no previous release of Munster on February 24, 1971.) Therefore, the song composition of this Sigma edition is as announced this time. The dates and performance locations are reversed. The original tape probably existed for a longer time, and the best parts of each were combined to create a pseudo-complete disc, which is called side A of the tape. The guess sentence is long, but this is a really amazing sound source! It’s a shame that Fat Old Sun on Disc 1 runs for 11 minutes and 44 seconds, and Careful With That Ax, Eugene on Disc 2 cuts off after 3 minutes and 40 seconds (both probably don’t exist any longer), and others. The songs themselves are well recorded. Tape deterioration and analog noise have been reduced to the extent that they do not affect the original sound. Of course, the pitch has also been accurately corrected. This is a new collection of sound sources that is nothing short of surprising. High sound quality and freshness that can be enjoyed not only by enthusiasts but also by beginners. In particular, the clarity of the sound of the Münster sound source on disc 2, the beauty of the clear sound, and the profoundness are overwhelming! A very important piece that fills in the missing piece of history is now available on CD. ★The following is for reference only.
