Description

A super high-quality recording of the Hollywood Bowl performance on September 22, 1972, a classic sound source from the analog era, is now available as a 4-CD set. Discs 1 & 2 include super high-quality takes called DAT copies from the masters recorded by Rob Bertrand. It is hard to believe that it was recorded in 1972, and the sound quality is exactly comparable to soundboard recording. (By the way, the person who recorded it was the taper from that Oakland performance on May 9, 1977.) The balance is also wonderful, and the intensity of the drum sound in particular is so amazing that you will be stunned when you listen to it. There is no doubt that it is a first-class live sound source, but the drawbacks are that Speak To Me is not recorded (it starts suddenly from Breathe), and in the second part, the recorder repeatedly turned on and off between songs. Therefore, most of the songs in the second part are a little cut off, there is some distortion in the sound in parts where there is a bit of overload, and there is also a small thing, but I did not test the microphone at the beginning of Echoes. For example, there are parts where you hit repeatedly. However, if you listen to it, you will understand, but it is recorded with incredibly high sound quality, boasting a truly rich sound image from high to low frequencies, especially “Mystery” and “Taiyou Hymn”. The parkaship-like power of this song is amazing. I can definitely say that it is a must-listen take for all Floyd fans. Discs 3 & 4 are a complete reprint of the legendary extremely rare 3-disc analog boot “Crackers” (TAKRL3969) from the original. Anyway, enthusiasts will be left speechless by the highest sound quality ever, which does not make a single needle sound. All the unusually fast pitches on the original have been completely corrected. A legendary ultra-high quality recording revived in perfect condition. It is no exaggeration to say that this is the strongest Floyd sound source of the year, making all previous boots using the same sound source unnecessary. This sound source was originally uncollected by Breathe, and in analog, this part was supplemented with the same year’s London Rainbow performance take (2/21/72), and this work is also recorded in the same way. Those who listen to it will be surprised at how good the sound of On The Run is at the moment the sound image switches. Overall, it is recorded at the highest level of sound quality with almost no defects, and unlike the versions on discs 1 & 2, it is recorded almost perfectly, with almost no cuts or gaps between songs that contain vivid tuning sounds. The best of the overwhelming stage, where unfinished “Madness”, One Of These Days, Careful With That Ax, Eugene, Echoes, Mystery, Hymn to the Sun, and many other big songs are played one after another without a moment’s sag while maintaining a tremendous sense of tension.
