Description

Phil Collins suddenly became the darling of the era with the successive hits of “FACE VALUE” and “HELLO, I MUST BE GOING!”. The superlative soundboard album of his long-awaited solo world tour “THE HELLO, I MUST BE GOING TOUR” is now available. What is recorded in this work is “December 6, 1982 Berkeley performance”. This is a stereo soundboard recording that includes the full show. Speaking of 1982, he was active with GENESIS, and it was a complicated time to balance that with his solo career. First of all, let’s check the show’s position from the busy 1982/1983 schedule. [1982]《“THREE SIDES LIVE” released on June 4th》★August 1st – October 2nd: THREE SIDES LIVE TOUR (46 performances)《“HELLO, I MUST BE” released on November 5th GOING!” released》・November 21st – December 1st: Europe (10 performances) ・December 6th – 19th: North America #1 (11 performances) ← [Here] [1983]・January 22nd – February 20th: North America #2 (25 performances)《“GENESIS” released on October 3rd》★November 6th – February 29th, 1984: MAMA TOUR (71 performances) ) (Note: “・” marks are solo performances, “★” marks are GENESIS performances) This is the schedule at the time when Nisho no Kusasa began. They toured with GENESIS until October, and released “HELLO, I MUST BE GOING!” right away. He then embarked on his first solo tour. In a busy schedule that made me wonder, “When are you sleeping?”, the Berkeley performance of this work was the 8th concert of “North America #1”. The quality of this work is an extraordinary sound board that makes you want to repeat “super” many times. It is a leaked sound board that is different from the FM broadcasts that were common at the time, but it is different from the leaked ones that are out there. Not only the fierce and intense adhesion, but the surprising thing is the mix. Normally, the leaked soundboard is a rough mix that is recorded continuously, but this work has been thoroughly mastered and completed. Despite the large household of nine members, including THE PHOENIX HORNS, each note of each member is clear and the balance is very musical. The stereo feeling of dynamic panning is also beautifully arranged. I understand if it’s an FM broadcast that has to be remixed later, but I didn’t expect it to be this beautiful after being leaked. Was it planned to be an official live album, or was the show at that time an ironclad sound? Having said that, I’d say it’s a completely official work, but it’s a little different. Although it is at a level that should be officially released as is, the effects are thinner and the cheers are smaller compared to normal official works. Of course, this is a virtue, not a drawback. As a result, you can closely synchronize with the live performance, and there is no unnecessary fake feeling. It is the ultimate sound board that combines the sound quality of the official live board level and the real feeling unique to outflows at the highest level. The show drawn with that quality is also extremely gorgeous. In short, it’s a live performance version of FACE VALUE + HELLO, I MUST BE GOING!. The repertoire is limited to both works, except for “…And So To F…” and “People Get Ready,” which decorate the final stage. The album was selected with a 50/50 balance, and is a concentrated version of two masterpieces that were big hits. There is also an official work “LIVE AT PERKINS PALACE” that records this tour, but in addition to all the songs, it is a full set with 7 additional songs. What’s more, Phil, who plays the role, is enthusiastic about his first solo tour, and his singing voice is at full blast as he approaches world domination. Not only is it a hit song, but the transcendental technique that can be heard in BRAND X’s “…And So To F…” is overwhelming. It is a show that is even more extreme than the transcendental sound. “A truly superb edition.” This is all I can say, but I would like to digress a little. In fact, this work is not the only super-superb version born from “THE HELLO, I MUST BE GOING TOUR”. Since he was the darling of the times, there are many radio broadcasts and various soundboards. I think there are some enthusiasts who are confused by the large number of choices, but if you limit it to “ultra-excellent + full set”, you will be able to narrow it down naturally. This is a good opportunity, so let’s sort it out. ・December 10: Upper Darby performance “MUST BE SING TONIGHT” ・December 16: Berkeley performance [this work] ・December 19: Pasadena performance “PASADENA 1982 COMPLETE” Actually, this is all. The Washington performance in February 1983 is also known as a great classic of transcendental sound, but even that is not a complete recording. And, as mentioned above, “MUST BE SING TONIGHT” and “PASADENA 1982 COMPLETE” have been introduced. This work is also the last piece of the Vertex trilogy. “THE HELLO, I MUST BE GOING TOUR” achieved success beyond GENESIS and rose to become the darling of the era. This is a stereo soundboard album that allows you to enjoy your first solo tour with the finest sound. You can enjoy it as a live album that represents the 80’s itself, or complete a transcendent trilogy collection. A 2-disc set that is a must-have for all Western music fans.
