Description

It is no exaggeration to say that this release from our shop set the standard for Paul’s 2017 Japan tour items. This time, the third sound source from the Budokan on the first day of the tour. If the sound quality image of the items released so far is the “BUDOKAN 2017” which emphasized realism in the first release, and the “ONE ON ONE at BUDOKAN” which is an honorable recording with a wonderful balance of sound image and clearness, then this sound source is “rich bass”. In terms of sound image, it is a balance between the past two titles, and the rich bass is added in an exquisite balance to it, a recording obtained exclusively by our shop. The power of this bass is a big attraction different from the past two titles. First of all, listen to the sound of Paul’s bass cutting into the intro of “Drive My Car”, which became one of the Budokan special repertoires. You will be overwhelmed by the power of the localization area, which is a little different from the previous sound sources. The same can be said about “Let Me Roll It,” where Brian Ray played bass, where the bass line supporting the guitar riff hits out with more powerful bass than other recordings. Just by listening to the first half of this live performance, you will realize how attractive the bass is in this audience recording. And yet, it is on a completely different level from a boomy recording where the bass is too prominent and blurs the sound image and the contours of the performance. Despite the prominent bass balance, the overall texture is very elegant. At first listen, it may seem plain. However, you will be captivated by the tight and gentle sound quality that is not intrusive, which is unique to such a recording state. After all, it is an audience recording with an attractive bass, so even the acoustic song parts have a solid low range that cannot be experienced in ordinary audience recordings. Even in songs like “Love Me Do,” where the venue was united and excited, it is no exaggeration to say that the greatness of this sound source lies in the fact that it not only has the realism unique to audience recording, but also realistically reproduces the bass that was actually sounding at the venue at the Budokan on April 25, 2017. And it is easy to understand the difference in sound quality by listening to and comparing it with our past items, “I Wanna Be Your Man” again this time. You should be able to understand that the direction of sound quality is completely different from our past items with this “Nihon Hatsu Kokai!” performance at the Budokan. That’s how much the sound source this time is all about the power of the bass that has been repeated so far. Even in “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!”, which Paul himself said was his favorite bass line when he came to Japan, this sound source is unique in that it reproduces that play without leaving anything out. And the best part is that in the last song, “The End,” the bass line played by keyboardist Wicks is captured with amazing clarity in the background of the battle between Paul and the other three guitarists. If you read the points I’ve written so far, you’ll understand how the third Budokan sound source being released this time has its own unique appeal. In particular, the bass is powerful, reminiscent of not only the excitement of the first day of the tour, but also “that sound” that was heard at the venue that day.
