Description

A secret gig in London five days before the start of the Get Back 1989 tour, which was not widely known until now, was recorded from the 1st Gen cassette. The final rehearsal just before the Get Back tour, which was not widely known until now, was almost completely recorded. Taper’s impression is “What an absoulte thrill !!” (Full of excitement !!) A final rehearsal that was held in a hurry five days before the start of the first world tour in 10 years was recorded. This rehearsal is not recorded in the history of Paul tours on Wikipedia, and it is a phantom secret live performance that did not have any sound sources until 2000. This title we are delivering this time is a sound source from the first generation cassette that was copied from Taper in 1992. It is recorded from the time the recording switch is turned on to the time the recording switch is turned off. The first Get Back tour in 10 years started in Oslo on September 26, 1989. Rehearsals and press conferences prior to this tour were held in London in July and in New York in August. In September, Paul returned to London and rehearsed at Elstree Studio as if it were a real show, and fixed the set list. Meanwhile, it was announced on BBC Radio that a dress rehearsal would be held at a certain place in London on September 21st, and invitation tickets were given to those who applied by phone. At the same time, invitation tickets were also sent to fan club members. A secret live performance like a real show was held in Studio 6 at Elstree in front of an audience of 750 people, including those involved and invited guests. Now, this taper did not have an invitation ticket, so he lined up in the standby line, and just before the show started, the MPL staff kindly allowed about 20 more people to enter, and he got an invitation ticket and watched this secret live performance. Therefore, he turned on the recording button on his portable cassette recorder when he rushed into Studio 6. Because of this, the opening Figure Of Eight starts halfway through, but the sound source used this time is only the first generation cassette copied from the taper, so it has a longer recording time and less hiss noise than the second generation (grandchild tape) and the very few CD-Rs that have been circulated among traders in the past. There are several missing parts due to tape changes along the way (it’s really unfortunate that the beginning of Let It Be is missing), but the touching last song, the Abbey Road B-side medley, is recorded firmly up to the point where the dazed taper turns off the recorder. In addition, there is no equalization or sound lifting, so even if you have this sound source through a trade, I think that it is at a level where you can upgrade it without any problems (Taper himself was aiming to complete Paul’s tour sound sources from 1989 to 1990 at the time, and probably used this sound source during the trade. After that, it was distributed in very small numbers on CD-R in 2000 and on torrent in 2006, but I judged that the one offered this time is superior to those in terms of recording time and sound quality). The excitement of a live performance where you don’t know the set list is even more intense if it is a secret live performance just before Paul’s first world tour in 10 years. Especially since this Get Back tour was a return to Beatles works, the excitement of the audience at Sgt. Peppers and Can’t Buy Me Love, the chorus of Hey Jude and Get Back, and the resonance of that moving Abbey Road medley are fully conveyed. A surprise recording that rivals the original recordings, including the Liverpool homecoming live, the Knebworth broadcast disc, and the first day of the Tokyo Dome’s We Met Finally and Get Back tours!
