Description
Unlike the 1993 Japan tour that will be released this time, Paul’s 2003 UK tour can’t be denied the feeling that it has now been overlooked. More than 15 years have passed at the earliest, but it will certainly take a little longer for this period to be considered a “classic”. As a result, there are no items available now. At that time, it was a big topic as it was the triumphant return performance to the UK, following the performances in the US and Japan in 2002. What’s more, speed release was at its peak. Therefore, for the UK tour, especially the Earl’s Court performance, many CDs were competitively released due to the popularity of the venue, but that is a long time ago. Among them, “WOWS LONDON AUDIENCE” has gained a reputation as a high-quality sound source. It was a bestseller at the time due to its extremely easy-to-listen sound quality. Of course, it goes without saying that we used audience recordings that are not available among traders, but the spacious and warm sound quality still makes us feel outstanding listening comfort. Moreover, “WOWS LONDON AUDIENCE” itself has been out of print for a long time, and there are probably not many enthusiasts who have heard this overlooked excellent sound source. The new renewal of “WOWS LONDON~” will be realized. As I said earlier, it is an audience recording of a quality that does not fade at all even when heard with modern ears, so there was no need to add equalization at all for this reissue. Although it was a high quality sound source, it was extremely easy to listen to. Unfortunately, there is a woman on the left who screams periodically, which is why the title “WOWS LONDON AUDIENCE” was given at the time. However, this is a scene typical of overseas concerts, but the woman who had been screaming many times since the show started became quieter when the then new song “Lonely Road” started, as if it were a lie. The entire venue becomes a “scene”. However, from around “Maybe I’m Amazed” it became noisy again, and the scene that could be said to be typical of overseas performances that are indifferent to new songs was realistically captured. However, the performance is even closer to you with a lively sound image, so you can listen to it with confidence even if there is excitement around you. More than 15 years have passed since then, and I am amazed at how complete the set list was at that time. Since the previous year’s Japan performance when “Calico Skies” was introduced, the content of the live show has improved considerably, and in 2003 the band has evolved into an even more complete selection of songs. It’s really nostalgic, such as “You Never Give Me Your Money / Carry That Weight”, which Paul plays alone, or “She’s Leaving Home”, which was a highlight of this era. Also, “Your Loving Flame,” a ballad dedicated to his then-wife Heather, will never be performed again. And “Two Of Us”, which should be called the highlight of 2003, is really attractive even if you listen to it now. Also, it’s 2003, not 2013, so it’s refreshing now that I get the impression that there are quite a few voices around “Maybe I’m Amazed” and “Jet.” Although it was digitally recorded in 2003, it is an excellent audience album with a gentle sound quality that is not intrusive and the sound image is close. Please enjoy the passionate performance that took place at Earl’s Court in the finest sound quality. Uses original DAT master provided by British taper. It’s a really great recording.
