Description

After completing their US tour in 1976, Wings released the single “Mull of Kintyre (Cape Kintyre)” the following year in 1977. This number full of Scottish taste using bagpipes captured the hearts of the British people and became an unprecedented hit. And it even managed to break Paul’s own UK sales record for the Beatles’ “She Loves You.” Recording will begin at Abbey Road Studios in February and continue in the Virgin Islands in May. However, during this process, Jimmy and Joe leave the group. Due to Linda’s pregnancy, “London Town,” which we will be introducing today, was essentially produced by just Paul and Denny. This album, which can only be said to be in the vein of “Mull of Kintyre”, was a huge hit as a masterpiece full of warm sounds. “With a Little Luck” reached number one on the US charts. However, unfortunately, thanks to “Saturday Night Fever”, it was not able to reach number one as an album, which may be what makes this album’s existence sober. However, I dare say that this album is a masterpiece! and. This album, with nearly half of the songs co-written by Paul and Denny, is full of masterpieces. From the opening song “London Town” and the trad-folk style “Children Children” sung by Denny to the last song on side A, “I’ve Had Enough,” not to mention side A and side B. The last song, “Morse Moose and the Gray Goose,” is a huge explosion of original perverted sounds, and this album ends. I think the overall sound is full of trad flavor. I guess this is clearly due to Denny’s influence. And the reason why it has such a strong Denny vibe is “Mans of Constant Sorrow,” which was recorded on Ginger Baker’s Air Force’s first album and features Denny on vocals, and was intentionally (and boldly) included as a bonus track. . Denny’s musical orientation is clear from his bold traditional arrangement of the American Kentucky folk song, which is also known as a cover by Dylan. Even so, it’s amazing how even an AOR-ish song like “With a Little Luck” becomes Paul’s Little Richard style shout! This gift item is a reprint of “London Town” from the original UK edition of the rare double-sided Matrix 1. In addition, “Mans of Constant Sorrow” uses a mono mix of the US single version, which is also difficult to obtain. The main part has a mellow sound that makes you think of the UK version, and what’s especially wonderful is that Paul’s bass is resonating. Also, the bonus track features Ginger Baker’s drums and the chorus at the end.
