Description

Paul McCartney has entered 2018 with warm-up gigs in Liverpool and London in June and July. On September 7, 2018, they held a concert on a special stage in New York’s Grand Central Station. Finally, they announced that they would be going on a new tour titled FRESHEN UP TOUR, replacing the previous ONE ON ONE TOUR. This is a large-scale tour that will start in Canada in September 2018 and will include festival appearances in Europe, Japan, and the United States, and the 2019 schedule has been announced in quick succession. A feature of this FRESHEN UP TOUR is that they have added new songs from their new album “EGYPT STATION” to their repertoire. Moreover, he played two songs, “Who Cares” and “Come On To Me” at the beginning of the concert, and “Fuh You” in the middle. All of these songs seem to have been designed with concert performance in mind, and serve as an important accent to the stage composition. Also, “From Me To You” will be premiered on this tour. It is one of the Beatles’ representative songs from the very early days, and is featured as one of their acoustic corner songs. Other than that, if you just look at the songs on the setlist, contrary to the tour title, there are no fresh selections, and although there are songs that have been played in the past, if I were to point out the special feature of this tour, it would be the arrangement rather than the songs. We should pay attention to this. The main difference from traditional Paul stages is the addition of a brass section. Until now, with the exception of Wings in the 70’s, basically no one other than band members joined Paul’s stage. Of course, there were times when bagpipe bands took the stage and guests performed. However, there were no musicians who accompanied the tour and participated in the concert production every night. For the first time, a brass section joined the band. The arrangement intentionally takes advantage of the fact that the sounds that had previously been substituted by Wicks’s keyboard are now played using real instruments. This work is a complete recording of the final stop of the 2018 FRESHEN UP TOUR, the first day Liverpool performance of the UK tour with only three performances. It is well known to fans that the concerts that Paul performs in his hometown of Liverpool, including those in 1990, 2003, and 2008, are all wrapped in a special atmosphere. Above all, these are the last three performances of 2018. When Paul is filming or recording, and on the last day of the Liverpool concert or tour, he is known to perform shows with all his might without leaving any spare energy in these cases. At this Liverpool performance in 2018, many relatives and old acquaintances were in the audience, and Paul was more talkative than usual and was the MC for a long time, creating a warm atmosphere different from other performances. It covers the entire venue. After all, it was introduced that Colin Hunton, who was a member of Quarry Men, was in the audience, and he sang “In Spite Of All Danger” in front of him. And since it was almost Christmas, they performed “Wonderful Christmastime” for the first time on this tour with a children’s choir in the background. For “I Saw Her Standing There,” they had fans come on stage to sing, making it a great performance to end 2018. This work also includes a complete recording of the sound check that took place before the concert on the day. In the sound check of this day, it is unusual that Paul sings with lyrics to “Celebration”, which is usually played as a piano instrumental. It also caught my eye that they were playing “I Don’t Know” from their new album, which they have never played on stage. What’s more noteworthy is the sound quality. It’s the best possible audience recording, with a sense of closeness to the performance, a closeness of the sound as if Paul was singing right in front of you, no annoying audience around, almost no applause or handclaps, and a clear sound. It is beautiful and has a perfection that is like a superb live album. Of course, it appears for the first time in this work, and can only be heard in this work, and is a completely exclusive sound source with ultra-high sound quality that is not available anywhere else. A UK tour with only 3 performances to conclude 2018. On the first day, Paul’s hometown Liverpool performance, sound check, concert, all completely recorded in high sound quality. It was such a wonderful concert that I was filled with a sense of happiness and fulfillment after listening to it, and it was probably the number one performance of the year.
