Description

The GET BACK TOUR, which started in 1989 for the first time since the Wings era, lasted for two years until 1990, and performed over 100 performances. Although the basic set list did not change, the tour was still progressing with some changes being made throughout, such as Paul’s condition, event stage, and the first and second half of the tour. Even so, the three performances in their home country of England are the highlights of this tour, and all of them are memorable stages. The tour, which started in September 1989, began in Northern Europe. They then toured Europe, including Germany and France, and then went on to America, and in January 1990, they held a series of large-scale performances in Birmingham and London. The focus of the tour was the United States, which is proportional to the vastness of the country, but other than that, there were two performances in Brazil and six performances in Japan. Although I wrote that it was a series of large-scale performances in January 1990, this was the only British tour. However, there are exceptions. These are the three performances in the UK, which are officially classified as the European third leg. They toured Japan in March 1990 and North America in April 1990, and their performance in Brazil at the end of April set a Guinness record for the most audience attendance for a single concert by an individual artist. They will be going on a North American tour again in July, but in between, they only held three concerts in the UK in June. And all three performances were special for both the fans and Paul. During the holidays between tours, they went all the way back to England and performed three one-off performances. The schedule is as follows. June 23, 1990 Glasgow performance June 28, 1990 Liverpool performance June 30, 1990 Knebworth performance This work includes the Liverpool performance. All three performances are special, not only because it was a festival at Knebworth, but also because the Glasgow performance on the first day was titled “Get Back To Glasgow,” and the Liverpool performance was titled “Let It Be Liverpool.” This can be seen from the fact that it is given the title. The meaning of this is unknown, but the fact that it was a triumphant return performance to his hometown makes it all the more special. There is also a sound source that was completely recorded in the audience recording of this Liverpool performance, but unfortunately the sound quality is only severe by modern standards. However, fortunately, although it is a digest, the sound source that was broadcast on the radio at the time remains. That is what is included in the CD part of this work. It’s about 77 minutes of recording, so it’s probably half the show. You can listen to medleys with reprises of “We Got Married” and “SGT.Pepper’s,” which were only played on this tour, on the high-quality soundboard. The highlights of the day were, of course, “Strawberry Fields,” “Help,” and “Give Peace A Chance.” It was later released as a single, but listening to it in the context of a concert gives a different impression. In particular, Paul himself recalls with great emotion the scene where the audience did not stop singing the chorus even after the performance of “Give Peace A Chance” had finished, and he sat down at the piano again and resumed the refrain. Paul himself says that the most impressive and moving moment on the tour is “Give Peace A Chance” included in this work. The DVD includes the 1990 documentary “GOING HOME.” As the subtitle “FROM RIO TO LIVERPOOL” suggests, this is an excellent documentary covering everything from the Rio performance, which set the Guinness World Record for mobilization for a single artist, to the Liverpool performance included in this work. Brazil, which was the biggest concert in Paul’s live history even now, made a triumphant return to the UK from the concert in Rio. The charm of the young Paul’s tour, which was 48 years old at this time, is fully recorded, from stage setup to rehearsals and backstage situations. I also feel nostalgic about the late Linda. You can enjoy the live premiere of “Birthday” at Knebworth, and the first performance of “Mull Of Kintyre” in 10 years in Glasgow, where a bagpipe band marches on stage. In particular, “Mull Of Kintyre” is short, but you can also see the rehearsal. The highlight, of course, was Liverpool’s John Medley, who was introduced in the CD section. Until the 1980s, Paul did not even actively play Beatles songs, but on the tour starting in 1989, he incorporated them into the set list on a large scale, and on this day there was a surprise that he even played John’s songs. The song was a medley of “Strawberru Fields Forever,” “Help,” and “Give Peace A Chance.” By the way, all three songs are credited to LENNON-McCARTNEY. Even now, just watching this video will send shivers down your spine. This work includes a soundboard recording of three special British performances in Chunichi and Liverpool during the tour. The DVD also includes the tour documentary “GOING HOME”. You can also see the memorable historical moment, which Paul himself says was the most moving moment, in the video. This means that the Valkyrie label has completed three shows in the UK. I would like to have this special three UK performances, Glasgow, Liverpool, and Knebworth.
