Description
The world tour that Paul conducted after releasing the album “FLOWERS IN THE DIRT” first traveled to Europe and the United States, and the tour in his home country of England was realized in 1990. In the same year, they toured London and Birmingham from January, and for fans in their home country, the long-awaited tour was realized, the first since Wings in 1979. However, the January schedule will not be heading to Paul’s hometown of Liverpool, and the triumphant return performance in Liverpool, which both fans and Paul would have been craving, will not be realized until June. This June tour is a very unique period in the tour from 1989 to 1990, as they will only perform three times in the UK. One of them was Knebworth on the 30th, which was a short set for an event, and with the appearance of high-quality radio broadcasts and items containing them, it quickly became a bestseller. Each performance in this short-term UK tour has its own characteristics, and among enthusiasts it has been evaluated as a special period even on the 1990 stage, where the performance level was always high. However, things do not go easily on the 28th, which was Paul’s first performance in Liverpool in a while. This was also broadcast on the radio, but unfortunately less than half of the actual live performance was broadcast, and here the miso is added at the beginning. Still, due to the nature of the broadcast sound source, items also appear to follow Knebworth. However, they all had the major problem of being slow in pitch. Similarly, the item recording Billy Joel’s live broadcast in London in 1990 also has a low pitch, and it is speculated that the taper recorded in such a manner may have spread the sound source in the same year. In the end, items such as “IMAGINE IN LIVERPOOL” appear, which are full of flaws, not only the pitch is out of order, but also the medley that starts with the last “Golden Slumbers” is not recorded, after it fades out just before the end of “Back In The U.S.S.R.” Because of this, I can’t help but feel that it has turned into a tragic sound source that is not recognized by fans, even though it was a recent stereo sound board recording. In the first place, the items that have been released so far are not able to hide the inferiority of the sound quality even before the pitch is out of order, which gives a bad impression, and because the previous Knebworth had perfect sound quality, it is even more different. I just put it away. Under such circumstances, only the John Lennon medley, which is the highlight of this period, was released from the Liverpool performance with the coupling of the single “All My Trials” from the live album “TRIPPING THE LIVE FANTASTIC”, and the entire broadcast will be about that. If only I could listen to it with the same sound quality…Although the thoughts of maniacs are growing, the situation has continued for more than 20 years since the performance, with no sign of the appearance of an upper version at all. It’s rare to find a radio sound source that has had so much trouble. It was “LIVERPOOL 1990” released in 2013 that finally put an end to this situation. Not only was it recorded at an accurate pitch, but it also appeared as an undisputed upper version with clearly improved sound quality than past items, and as a result, it was sold out. The wonderful sound quality that makes past items seem like a lie is close to the official “TRIPPING THE LIVE FANTASTIC”, but the appeal is that the mixing is not as tightly organized as the same album. After all, Paul is on a stage where he is enthusiastic about his triumphant return performance after a long time, so a stereo sound board recording that is summarized in such a balance allows you to feel the momentum of the performance more realistically. Of course, there are no meaningless cuts or unrecorded omissions. For this reason, requests for re-release have been received for a long time, and the release will be realized. Since the sound source was already of sufficiently high quality, it would have been possible to simply reissue it, but when we reconsidered the sound source, we found that the separation in the bass range was poor, so we applied equalization to improve this. For example, I think it would be easier to understand the difference if you listen to a fast-tempo and intense performance like “I Saw Her Standing There.” This equalization has made the low range clear and tight. This not only makes it easier to listen to the original official level sound source, but it is also easy to listen to the content that can fit on one CD, which is a big point. (Remastered Memo) ★Although the sound quality is originally high, the separation of bass sounds is poor, and the synchronized sound of the bass drum and bass in particular gives a muddy impression, so the most important point is to resolve that part. In the mid-high range, the snare and hi-hat are made clearer by fine tuning, and the synergistic effect with the bass drum by adjusting the bass makes the entire performance clearer.
