Description

Paul McCartney has entered 2018 with warm-up gigs in Liverpool and London in June and July. On September 7, 2018, they held a concert at a special stage in New York’s Grand Central Station. Although the set list is simpler than usual, there is no sense of Paul’s decline as a musician, and although the band has already entered its 16th year since becoming a member, everyone is performing wonderfully. I think it’s okay to use the band name as a permanent member. Finally, they announced that they would be going on a new tour titled FRESHEN UP TOUR, replacing the previous ONE ON ONE TOUR. It looks like this tour will be a large-scale one, starting in Canada in September 2018 and touring Europe, Japan, and the United States, including festival appearances, and the 2019 schedule has already been announced. A feature of this FRESHEN UP TOUR is that they have added new songs from their new album “EGYPT STATION” to their repertoire. Moreover, he played two songs, “Who Cares” and “Come On To Me” at the beginning of the concert, and “Fuh You” in the middle. All of these songs seem to have been designed with concert performance in mind, and serve as an important accent to the stage composition. Also, “From Me To You” will be premiered on this tour. It is one of the Beatles’ representative songs from the very early days, and is featured as one of their acoustic corner songs. Other than that, if you just look at the songs on the set list, contrary to the tour title, there are no fresh selections, and there are songs that have been played before. If we were to highlight the characteristics of this tour, we should focus on the arrangements rather than the songs. The major difference from traditional Paul stages is the addition of a brass section. Until now, with the exception of Wings in the 70’s, basically no one other than band members joined Paul’s stage. Of course, there were times when bagpipe bands took the stage and guests performed. However, there were no musicians who accompanied the tour and participated in the concert production every night. For the first time, a brass section joined the band. The arrangement intentionally takes advantage of the fact that the sounds that had previously been substituted by Wicks’s keyboard are now played using real instruments. The brass section makes its first appearance on “Letting Go.” What’s more, the audience is excited by the surprise performance that is suddenly performed by the members who are lined up in the audience seats instead of on the stage. In the second half of the song, a short brass solo is inserted into the break, making the arrangement even more outstanding. It is also featured extensively in the new song “Come On To Me”. The brass section also plays an important role in “Let ‘Em In,” “Lady Madonna,” “Ob La Di Ob La Da,” “Live And Let Die,” “Hey Jude,” and the final Abbey Road medley. . It is strange that “Got To Get You Into My Life” was not added to the set list while introducing such a brass section. Another thing to note is that “My Valentine”, which had previously been played in a narration style while sitting on a piano, is now played in an acoustic set. Paul doesn’t have an instrument and concentrates on vocals, but instead of using a microphone, he sings using a loudspeaker like the one used at sports days. This is a deliberate attempt to create an effect that sounds like something you would hear on an old radio, and it’s a nice idea, as the melody is reminiscent of an old sepia-toned landscape. This work is a complete recording of the Quebec City performance in Canada on September 17, 2018, the very first day of this 2018 FRESHEN UP TOUR. The venue was the Videotron Center, a multipurpose arena, which is an indoor venue and is the sixth largest venue in Canada. It was recorded in a very excellent recording at that large venue. The very first day of Paul’s latest tour, a complete recording of the Quebec City performance with high sound quality. The bonus track includes a radio spot announcing the concert that was repeatedly broadcast in Canada. VIDEOTRON CENTRE, QUEBEC CITY, CANADA September 17, 2018 DISC ONE 01. A Hard Day’s Night 02.
