Patti Smith fell ill during her Italian tour in December 2023, causing her performances in Bologna and Venice to be canceled. Despite concerns about her condition, she made a spectacular comeback in Brooklyn at the end of the year. Since her February 2024 New York performance, she has been touring with both the Patti Smith Group and the Patti Smith Quartet. In April 2025, she returned to Japan for the first time in nine years as part of her latest project with the contemporary sound art collective Soundwalk Collective. This release features a live performance from her latest tour, held at The Anthem in Washington, DC on November 28, 2025, in a high-quality stereo audience recording! This direct digital transfer from the digital PCM master recording was recorded slightly to the left of the PA desk, but the vocals are clear and distinct, and each part is captured with exceptionally balanced, deep, and clear sound quality. This live performance features Patti Smith and Her Band, featuring her son Jackson Smith on guitar, Tony Shanahan on bass and keyboards, Lenny Kaye on guitar and bass, and Jay Dee Daugherty on drums. This concert coincided with the release of the 50th anniversary edition of her debut album, “Horses,” released in 1975. The first set featured all the tracks from “Horses,” while the second set featured a medley of Television covers without Patti. After Patti returned, the set included a performance of “Ain’t It Strange,” a song not featured in recent setlists. The setlist, including “Horses” and “Horses,” as well as a poetry reading by British poet William Blake, allows you to fully enjoy the full, uncut performance.
