Description
This release features a high-quality stereo audience recording of the Oakland performance from her latest US tour in November 2025! Patti Smith fell ill during her December 2023 Italian tour, causing her to cancel her Bologna and Venice shows. Despite concerns about her condition, she made a stunning comeback in Brooklyn at the end of the year. Since her February 2024 New York performance, she has been touring with both the Patti Smith Group and the Patti Smith Quartet. In April 2025, she returned to Japan for the first time in nine years as part of her latest project with the contemporary sound art collective Soundwalk Collective. This release features a high-quality stereo audience recording of a live performance from her latest tour, held at the Fox Theater in Oakland, California on November 12, 2025. Digitally transferred directly from the digital PCM master, the vocals are crisp and clear, with each part exceptionally well-balanced and deep, creating a clear sound quality. This live performance features Patti Smith and Her Band, featuring her son Jackson Smith on guitar, Tony Shanahan on bass and keyboards, Lenny Kaye on guitar and bass, and Jay Dee Daugherty on drums. This concert coincided with the release of the 50th anniversary edition of her debut album, “Horses,” released in 1975. The first set featured the entire album, followed by a medley of Television covers with the band (minus Patti). Patti returned to the stage for a setlist that included “Peaceable Kingdom,” a tribute to the Palestinian people. To celebrate Neil Young’s birthday, the band also played a cover of “After the Gold Rush,” a track not included in the regular setlist. During the encore, her daughter Jesse Smith joined in on piano and vocals.
