Description
This is the best soundboard recording from the Pat Metheny Trio’s “Question and Answer” tour. The time is 1992, Tokyo performance. The members listed side by side are the same as in 1990, but this one plays more songs from the album and is introduced by Metheny in the middle of the live performance, so it is the best live version of “Question and Answer”. Before the final song of the main part, “ALL THE THINGS YOU ARE”, Roy Haynes sings Kenny Rogers’ “THE GAMBLER” as a service (or rather, he is forced to sing it by Metheny), which is charming, tasteful and great. After the final song of the main part, the encore is Herbie Hancock’s jazz masterpiece “CANTALOUPE ISLAND”, a masterpiece that makes you wonder how many guitarists there are. This recording was apparently released on the 28th, but it is believed that the 27th was the correct date. There were also some unnatural parts between the songs, but they have been carefully corrected and the sound pressure has been increased to make this the definitive version.
