Description

In 1982, Pat Metheny produced the Grammy-winning masterpieces “OFFRAMP” and “TRAVELS” in quick succession. A new excavation live album is now available that allows you to experience the scene at its best. This work was recorded at “Highland Park Performance on July 19, 1982”. It is an exquisite audience recording that vacuum-packs the whole picture. This show was a performance as PAT METHENY GROUP, but Pat at that time did not stop there, and performed live performances of various formations such as solos and quartets at the same time. First of all, let’s look back at the 1982 schedule and check the show’s position.・January 14-18: North America #1 (4 performances) ・February 19-22: North America #2 (4 performances) ・April 9-19: North America #3 (5 performances) June 22nd – August 7th: North America #4 (39 performances) ←★Coco★・September 4th – 13th: North America #5 (4 performances) October 5th – November 24th: North America #6 (46th performance) Performances) *Note: “◆” marks are performances at PAT METHENY GROUP. “・” marks are performances by other organizations. This is Pat Metheny in 1982. “North America #4” and “North America #6” are the only “tours” that repeat stages and movements every day for more than a month, and those are the shows at PAT METHENY GROUP. The stages of other formations are only one-time events. Among them, the Highland Park performance of this work was the 23rd concert of “North America #4”. This work recorded at such a show is a beautiful recording that truly shines. In fact, the person who released this recording is a popular person who is currently shaking the collector world. Until recently, he was known as the “COVID-19 QUARANTINE RELEASE!” series, and now he is calling himself “HOT OFF THE HEADS PRODUCTION” and is producing masterpiece masters one after another. Since it has been the talk of the town for the past few weeks, I think many people have experienced it at least once, and this is the Pat Metheny version. There are two main types of this “HOT OFF THE HEADS sound”: one is a super tight sound with close contact and reverberation, and the other is a crystal clear beautiful sound that takes advantage of the ringing. This work is a masterpiece of the latter, and is a miraculous type of recording in which the inhaled hall sound does not cloud the core, but instead gives it shine and luster, making it even clearer. In fact, the performance is clearly felt from the rise of each note to the moment of silence, and the outline is vivid. It feels fluffy and soft, but at the same time has sharp edges, creating a beautiful world of both hard and soft. What is drawn with such a sound is a full show that reminds me of the masterpiece “TRAVELS”… The key point is a completely different set. While the official traditional edition was a compilation edition with a wide selection from “North America #4-6”, this work is a single stage, but it is not enough. Let’s compare and organize them here. PAT METHENY GROUP famous songs・PAT METHENY GROUP: Phase Dance (★)・AMERICAN GARAGE: (Cross The) Heartland/American Garage・OFFRAMP: James/Offramp/Are You Going With Me? (★)/The Bat Part II・TRAVELS :Song For Bilbao (★) Others・BRIGHT SIZE LIFE:Broadway Blues・AS FALLS WICHITA, SO FALLS WICHITA FALLS:It’s For You/Ozark/September 15th・Others:K.C. Blues/Close To Home *Note: “★” mark indicates A song that can also be heard on “TRAVELS”. …and it looks like this. Normally I mark songs that I don’t include with a ★, but for this work it’s the other way around. After all, the only songs that overlap with “TRAVELS” (of course, the performances are different) are “Phase Dance,” “Are You Going With Me?” and “Song For Bilbao,” and the others are completely unremarkable. . Of course, it is good that the repertoire is different, and even if the set is completely different, the splendor of the performance is exactly the same as “TRAVELS”. Flowing phrases and elaborate rhythm work skills fly back and forth, sometimes beautifully, sometimes thrillingly. No matter how intricately the melodic threads and rhythmic grains overlap, they never mix, and the ensemble stimulates each other in a sparkling show. In any case, the brilliance that seems to have achieved the “beauty unique to the audience” is too wonderful. You can fully enjoy a full show that makes “TRAVELS” even more diverse while feeling the world of beautiful sounds. This work is a masterpiece of such a rich music record. One of the most beautiful books in the world’s most popular series. Ravinia Festival, Highland Park, IL, USA 19th July 1982 TRULY PERFECT SOUND Disc 1(61:57) 1. Intro 2. Phase Dance 3.
