This nearly complete recording of a December 1st live performance at New York’s Beacon Theater, taken during the US tour accompanying the release of “First Circle,” Metheny’s final album for ECM, runs for two hours and seven minutes. The recordings are based on the best audience recordings available at the time and have been digitally remastered in 2025. This period, just before he left ECM and began his career with Geffen, showcases Metheny’s new ventures, particularly the addition of South American multi-instrumentalist Pedro Aznar, adding depth and breadth to the sound, creating a spectacular live performance that seems to open the door to the Metheny world. The following year, Metheny performed in Japan with nearly the same lineup, making this a truly memorable experience for fans.
