Description

A rare sound source from the fifth day after the live debut is now available as a brush-up edition from the newly excavated Low Gene Master! The sound source, which was recorded completely in stereo audience recording at the live performance held at King’s Hall in Manchester on February 23, 1979, was already released on the same label as “No Gimmicks, No Theatre, Just Us, Take It Or Leave It…”, but this work is now available as a brush-up edition from the newly excavated Low Gene Master! The hiss noise that occurred in the previously released version has been reduced, and the unstable pitch has been carefully corrected, and the sound quality has been brushed up to a clear sound quality. Because the range is narrow, it is almost mono to the ear, but the sound quality is quite good for that time, the vocals are large and well-balanced, and Keith Levin’s guitar is recorded with a violent and vivid sound! This live performance featured Eddie Edwards of the Vibrators on drums, replacing Jim Walker, who left the band at the end of the December live performance of the previous year, but since he left the band immediately after this live performance, this is a valuable recording as it is the only live performance with this lineup. Of course, they played songs from their first album, but in the Pistols number “Belsen Was A Gas,” which was removed from the set list at the end of the day, the drummer clearly got the composition wrong, and John gave up singing the second verse, stopped the performance and started over! However, the retake was perfect, allowing you to enjoy the thrilling performance that can only be experienced at a live performance. It’s a shame that the last song, “Annalisa,” is cut in the middle, but this is an important item that allows you to enjoy early P.I.L. live performances!
