Description

From the 1986 “THE ULTIMATE SIN” UK tour, a high-quality audience recording of the Sheffield performance on February 17th, one of the rarest live performances on the tour. In addition to the rare “NEVER”, it also includes “OVER THE MOUNTAIN”, which was confirmed to be played only on this day on the ’86 tour! ! In producing his second album, “THE ULTIMATE SIN,” featuring Jake E. Lee, Ozzy tried to find a balance between his “personality” since his solo debut and the “sound that sells” in the midst of the L.A. metal movement. Although it was a mistake, the completed album gained momentum from the heavy metal boom and became a hit, and Ozzy’s popularity and name value continued to expand. The “THE ULTIMATE SIN” world tour started with a tour of Ireland and the UK, featuring the band as the opening act for RATT, which was also at the height of its popularity at the time. After performing four performances in Ireland from February 6th to 10th as a warm-up, Ozzy performed a total of 15 performances from February 12th to March 4th. This work is a complete recording of the Sheffield “City Hall” performance on February 17th, which is the first half of the UK tour, with an excellent audience master. You can enjoy the setlist including rare songs unique to the first half of the tour with high-quality sound! Although it gives the impression that it was recorded from a distance, the visibility is good, and the musical sound captured in a cohesive and stable recording centering on Ozzy’s vocals is satisfying to listen to (from the impression that it was recorded from an FM source) (I even get the impression that it is). The sound source for this day has appeared in “NEVER KNOW WHY” (Power Gate-092) in the past, but this time the original master has been thoroughly remastered, and the resolution and brightness of the sound have been greatly improved. It’s improving. Jake’s guitar and Randy Castillo’s drums are also clear and dynamic, and from the opening “Bark At The Moon”, all fans will enjoy the flashy and gorgeous live sound unique to this period. The “THE ULTIMATE SIN” number, which is alternately woven into Randy era classics such as “Suicide Solution”, “Mr. Crowley” and “I Don’t Know”, is a big highlight of this recording. Although it is the beginning of the tour, the band’s ensemble is solid, and you can enjoy these new songs at the time with confidence. From the intro to “Never Know Why” where Jake shows off his unique technique, “Shot In The Dark” which has a catchy song that excites fans, and the epic number “Killer Of Giants”, etc. Everything looks lively and draws the listener into the show. And surprisingly, the rare song “Never” pops out at the end of disc 1! It’s a big surprise to be able to enjoy this song, which was rarely played live in 1986, with a high degree of stability. The same song was replaced with “Thank God For Bomb” in the latter half of the UK tour, so this is a point you can’t miss! In the second half of the live performance, there are many highlights unique to the ’86 tour, such as “Secret Loser” which includes a drum solo, and the album’s title number “The Ultimate Sin.” The climax is the familiar “Iron Man”, “Crazy Train” and “Paranoid”, but on this day, in response to the endless cheers of the fans, they played up to “Over The Mountain” at the end. “Over The Mountain” is one of Ozzy’s standard songs, but in the Jake era it has almost always been out of the live set, and in fact it is rare to play with this formation. Jake’s sharp guitar and Castillo’s dynamic drumming are also cool, and will knock out the listener. This is extremely rare even during the BLACK SABBATH era)! In addition to the rare live take of “Never”, this Sheffield performance is full of surprises, including “Over The Mountain” after the performance of “Paranoid”, which excited the fans at the venue. This recording where you can enjoy these surprises with good sound quality is a must-have for Ozzy maniacs. This work is a 2-disc set that fans must listen to, allowing them to enjoy valuable records unique to audience sources with excellent sound!
