Description
Ozzy Osbourne performed over 150 live shows during his time with Randy Rhoads, from September 1980, when Ozzy made his solo debut, to March 1982, when Randy was lost. For fans, every live show has its own unique appeal, but the biggest live performance was the appearance at the festival “Heavy Metal Holocaust” held at the Port Vale Football Stadium in the UK on August 1, 1980. The audience source recording of this live performance was released more than 10 years ago, which greatly surprised fans. After it sold out and went out of print, this work “HEAVY METAL HOLOCAUST” was released in response to calls from fans for a re-release. This work is an upgraded version that was re-produced from the master cassette and carefully repaired and accurately pitch-adjusted. The entire album is recorded with a gentle sound with no sense of equalization, a well-balanced sound image with a thick and ideal texture, and the clear view with less muffled sound compared to the same source delighted fans. It is easy to listen to, which is rare for an audience recording from a festival more than 30 years ago, and you can enjoy the whole show for about 64 minutes from the stage introduction by MOTORHEAD’s Lemmy (they were the headliners at this festival) to the final “Paranoid”. The set list, which continues with “I Don’t Know” and “Crazy Train”, is standard at the time, but due to the time constraints of the festival’s headliner performance being handed over to MOTORHEAD, “Goodbye To Romance” and “No Bone Movies” are not featured. However, the band’s performance and the excitement of the audience that can be heard in this work are wonderful, and Ozzy’s vocals are also strong. The energetic plays that make the band’s momentum sound as it is are the best. The heavy “Believer” and “Flying High Again” have lively rhythms by Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge, and the medley of “Revelation (Mother Earth)” and “Steal Away (The Night)” shows the fullness of the band. Randy’s guitar playing on these songs is, needless to say, amazing, and he plays excellent solos that are comparable to the official live “TRIBUTE”. In particular, the solo that follows “Suicide Solution” is brilliant, and the continuous BLACK SABBATH numbers of “Iron Man”, “Children Of The Grave”, and “Paranoid” that flow with momentum are nothing short of overwhelming! This is a must-listen for fans who want to experience the peak of the short Randy era with good quality and without any lies. Not only the contents of the sound source, but also the item that features the live photo of the day on the jacket is highly item-like, and it is a definitive title that Ozzy and Randy fans will definitely want to add to their collection.
