Description
Sabbath’s ally Geezer Butler and new ally Zakk Wylde. The best live album of “NO REST FOR THE WICKED TOUR” that shook the world with the strongest lineup ever is here. This work contains “Auckland performance on January 15, 1989”. This tour also realized a performance in Japan, and the official mini-album “JUST SAY OZZY” was also left. First of all, let’s imagine the position of the show from the whole picture of the world tour, including that. [1987] July 17th + 28th + December 15th: Warm-up [1988] July 7th – 23rd: Europe #1 (12 performances) {“NO REST FOR THE WICKED” released September 28th} November 16th – December 31st: North America #1 (29 performances) [1989] January 6th – 30th: North America #2 (15 performances) ←★Here★ February 27th – March 10th: Japan (7 performances) March 29th – May 5th: Europe #2 (27 performances) June 1st – August 5th: North America #3 (52 performances) ←※Official August 13th: Moscow (1 performance) Although there are some vague points in the records from that time, this is roughly an outline of the tour. We also reported on the masterpiece “NO REST FOR THE ROSEMONT (Zodiac 024)” in our shop, but that is “North America #1”. The Oakland performance of this work is the 7th performance of “North America #2” across the new year. This work is a new master that was recently unearthed. It is a treasured collection of “Karl Lundmark”, who made a series of metal masterpiece recordings in the 1980s, and is an extremely elegant work that was digitized directly from the original cassette. In fact, the sound of this work is amazingly wonderful. It is not a type that is “like a sound board” only because it is an audience recording with a tremendous enthusiasm from the beginning “Carmina Bunara”, but as soon as the performance begins, the extremely thick and thick musical tones trample everything. Moreover, there is almost no sense of distance due to the venue reverberation, and the details are terrifyingly vivid. If there was no enthusiasm, it would be a clear sound that deserves to be called “like a sound board”. The show drawn with that quality is already the best. The explosive playing style of the new member Zach is intense. Even now, Zach is the epitome of wildness, but he doesn’t emphasize grease and harmonics as much as he does now, and yet he is sharp and fast. In particular, he plays Randy Rhoads’ masterpieces beautifully as if he had been possessed (unlike Jake, who was the same age and stuck to his own style). And yet, instead of running to copy, he upgrades with a youthful energy that is uncontrollable (and has no intention of holding back). He is more Randy than Jake, and his guitar is more straightforward than Zach’s now. The person who makes you feel “youth” more than Zach is the great Ozzy himself. In any case, his voice is youthful, he has good highs, the melody is not missed, and the extension is wonderful. He will continue to collaborate with Zach for a long time after this, but this voice is only possible because of “NO REST FOR THE WICKED TOUR”. He should get over his alcohol habit after the tour, but he is very polite and has momentum. Perhaps it’s the sense of fulfillment of finding a “partner for the second half of his life” next to Iommi and Randy. They give us plenty of vocalization that is outstanding even in the 80s. The set that these youthful guys spin is also delicious. First, the new songs from “NO REST FOR THE WICKED”. “Bloodbath In Paradise” and “Tattooed Dancer” that can’t be heard on “LIVE & LOUD”, and “Fire In The Sky” that can’t be heard on “JUST SAY OZZY”. Ozzy declares himself a human being in his next album “NO MORE TEARS”, but here he is the “Prince of Darkness” from beginning to end. The metallic, evil, and riff-filled “NO REST FOR THE WICKED” is bursting with flavor. In particular, the super-fast “Tattooed Dancer” is dozens of times more thrilling than “JUST SAY OZZY”! Even in the ballad “Fire in the Sky,” Ozzy’s high notes extend beautifully, and you can see how in top form he is. This is a live album that strongly appeals to the “new Ozzy!” from start to finish. Zakk Wylde’s debut was simply intense. Ozzy was called a “hero excavator,” but Zakk was the final deciding factor. This work is a masterpiece that captures that impact with 100% real sound. Enjoy the true value of “NO REST FOR THE WICKED TOUR,” which cannot be seen in the tame “JUST SAY OZZY,” with the best sound of the tour! Live at Oakland Arena, Oakland, CA.
