Description

The third day of Oasis’ first performance in Japan in Shibuya was recorded from a cassette tape that has never been circulated among traders or on the Internet. A CD called “WHEN I WAS YOUNGER” was released on this day, but the sound image is not as close as the audience recording used there. However, the environment in which this recording was carried out was very special, and it was recorded by placing recorders on the tables on both sides of the venue. Because of this, the performance was on the right side and the left channel was mainly picking up the sound of the air conditioner, which was a strange situation. However, there was also the advantage of recording from a table seat, as it hardly picked up the voices of the nearby audience, and yet the performance on the right side and the contours of Liam Gallagher’s singing voice were surprisingly clear despite the deep sound image, and the sound quality was enough to be enjoyed when played from the speakers. On this day, unlike Nagoya, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” was not yet incorporated into the stage repertoire (it was played from the next day), and instead it was the last day that was performed with the set list until the first half of 1994, which started with “Columbia”. Also, Liam’s voice naturally grew longer in the first half of the tour compared to the last day in Nagoya. There is a partial video of this day, and it’s surprising to see Liam singing with a childlike appearance, but his voice is also really youthful. After all this time has passed, it makes you realize that the innocence of Oasis in 1994 was truly special. And the “Noel!” calls that flew around before the start of Noel Gallagher’s acoustic corner, which was introduced at the Japan tour and became the anchor of the live performance, were heartwarming. The “Big Bro!” the next day is legendary, but the call on this day was also a very amusing sight. After the show, a woman said, “I’m happy that they played the Beatles at the end,” which was also interesting. At the time, Oasis was also a hot topic as a group that played “I Am The Walrus.” By the way, this tape was copied from a cassette recorded by a friend who accompanied him, so it is based on what is called the first generation. This is a valuable documentary sound source that appeared on the disc of “NAGOYA 1994 DAT MASTER” released in 2020 and sold out, but this time it will be released with a new remaster. A valuable sound source that captures the first half of the tour tour when Oasis exploded in Japan in 1994! Remastering memo Shibuya reduced the frequency band of the bass drum. I couldn’t turn up the high frequencies because it would amplified the hiss. Live at Shibuya Club Quattro, Tokyo, Japan 15th September 1994 TRULY AMAZING SOUND(from Original Masters) (74:47) 1.
