Description
For the first two weeks of August 1996, Oasis was in all its glory. A series of outdoor concerts were held, including at Knebworth. Of course, it goes without saying that Knebworth is a legendary gig that says “this is history!”, but the outdoor mammoth concert that was held before and after was also a great collection of great performances. Unlike Knebworth, it’s not like Knebworth, where radio broadcasts have been made or professional shot footage exists, so it’s often overlooked, but if you’re an enthusiast, it’s a wonderful day that’s worth listening to at Stockholm on August 7th. As you can see from the date, the big concert that was held before Knebworth was in Stockholm. The event was recorded in an audience recording, and it was also a day when the group showed off their stage in perfect condition and in great shape as the big event of the century was just around the corner. In fact, the excitement of the Gallagher brothers is strangely high, with Liam in particular talking profusely between songs, and there are some scenes where he gets so excited that he screams alone. Knebworth, perhaps because there were no recording or broadcast plans like the second day, the tension was higher than at that time, and the sight of Liam singing freely is so dazzling now. It is wonderful that Liam’s voice is in great condition until the end, even though he sings so wildly. It was probably a good thing that unlike Knebworth, it was not a continuous performance schedule. Noel was also extremely excited with his younger brother next to him, who was flying all over the place. Although not as much as Liam, he also shouts during the MC between songs. Within a month of this intoxicating frenzy, I was forced to sing every song in Chicago. It is an audience recording that captures the masterpiece of the summer of 1996, but the sound image is also recorded fairly close. The instability caused by the shaking of the sound image, which is unique to larger-scale outdoor concerts, is unbearable, and it is a shame that it was noticeable in the first half of the live performance. Fortunately, however, the show was held in a non-English speaking area, and the audience’s chorus, which is common at Oasis concerts, was subdued and did not block the performance. Thanks to this, it is surprisingly easy to listen to as an audience recording at the height of Oasis. Instead, when a fast-tempo song like “Morning Glory” starts, the applause starts, but it’s a blessing in disguise that it usually subsides before the first part of the song ends. As I mentioned earlier, I regret the instability of the sound as it is sometimes blown away by the wind, but in other situations the performance is captured in a surprisingly large way, for example in “My Big Mouth” and “It’s Gettin’ Better (Man!!)” (there is a cut at the end of this song due to battery replacement) was the first new song heard here, so the clapping stopped quickly (bitter smile) At the same time, the sound image is easy to hear as it is quite stable and on. What’s more, Liam’s excitement after this song was over. Although this is an audience recording that lacks stability in some places, it can be said that it is a valuable sound source that can be enjoyed as a whole. Above all, the performance is outstanding. It is also valuable as a material that showed such a glorious show from Chicago a few weeks ago.
