Description

It’s been a quarter century since Oasis formed, and it’s been a long time since they broke up in 2009. Those of the same generation will find this deeply moving. This work is a complete recording of the Cardiff performance on March 19, 1996, from the tour accompanying the release of Oasis’ second album, “Morning Glory”. The tour accompanying Morning Glory continued for two years from June 1995 to December 1996, as if in response to the album’s phenomenal sales, and was a large-scale tour with a total of 103 performances. During that time, Oasis had a schedule that included a tour of Japan in between, and traveled back and forth between Europe and North America many times, achieving great success in various places. This work is a complete recording of the Cardiff performance on March 19, 1996, with a fresh soundboard sound source. According to one theory, this was recorded with the intention of releasing it as a live album, and indeed the sound quality is so good that it could have been released as is, making it one of the best Oasis collector’s items. Another advantage of this work is that the sound quality is consistent throughout. If you already own the released version, please check it out, but the quality of this recording is strangely not consistent, and it is divided into three parts based on the sound quality. [1] From “THE SWAMP SONG” to “CHAMPAGNE SUPERNOVA” [2] From “WHATEVER” to “SLIDE AWAY” [3] From “DON’T LOOK BACK IN ANGER” to “I AM THE WALRUS” It is unclear how these three different sound sources were mixed together from the same concert, but although the sound quality was good, they were clearly “different” sounds. [1] was a bit rough, with the high notes overemphasized and sometimes sounding like it was cracking. Also, because the sound is excessively loud, when the sound source is checked in electronic waveform, it is in a so-called “seaweed” state without any ups and downs. [2] is an acoustic part, so the volume level is low and the harshness of the high notes is not noticeable, but the balance with the band parts before and after is poor. [3] is similar to [1], but it is recorded with more room above and below, and although there is hiss, it is the easiest part to listen to. This work was mastered with the primary goal of giving a sense of unity to the sound sources that can be classified into these three parts. We have tried to make the sound quality uniform so that there is no discomfort when listening through. Furthermore, the high notes, which were a bit excessive in the previously released version, have been left natural and adjusted to be close to the sound that was probably output on the day. Another feature is that the low-level part of [2] has been adjusted to match the band parts before and after. In this way, the selling point of this work is that the “difference in sound quality”, which was the biggest drawback of the previously released version, can be heard in a natural and uniform quality. From Oasis’ MORNING GLORY TOUR, the Cardiff performance on March 19, 1996 is recorded in its entirety on a soundboard. CARDIFF INTERNATIONAL ARENA CARDIFF, WALES, U.K. March 19, 1996 DISC ONE 01.
