This is the complete recording of the October 5, 2002, performance at the Sendai City Gymnasium. This performance has never been released on CD before, making its debut here. It’s a surprisingly high-quality DAT recording, beautifully recorded without any annoying squeals or clapping. Blessed with the venue’s characteristics, this is perhaps the best sound quality of any performance from the band’s 2002 Japan tour. From the pre-show commotion and the opening “This Is Not A Drill – Fuckin’ In The Bushes” to the “Chanpagne Supernova” played throughout the venue after the show and the announcement urging everyone to leave, this recording captures every last bit of the atmosphere of the day, and is beyond flawless. It’s amazing that such a recording has been lying dormant for a quarter century and is finally being released. As an aside, after the concert, Liam and his staff went out into Sendai and drank heavily until 2 a.m., while Noel, Andy, and Gem headed to a sushi restaurant. Noel’s favorite foods are tuna, shrimp, and kappa rolls. Gem apparently tried conger eel for the first time and was impressed by how delicious it was. After eating at a sushi restaurant, they continued drinking at a bar until midnight, showing no signs of fatigue despite having a flight to Hiroshima the next day. At this point, all the band members were in their 30s, and Liam had just celebrated his 30th birthday. They were still young and capable of pushing themselves physically. The bonus tracks include two shows, both of which are live performances and recordings never before seen.
