Description

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the band’s formation, the 10 YEARS OF NOISE & CONFUSION TOUR was held in 2001, a monumental mini-tour of six shows in three cities: London, Manchester, and Glasgow. This is a complete recording of two days of the Manchester performance in the Gallagher brothers’ hometown with a good audience recording. Looking back at the situation surrounding the band at that time, original members Bonehead and Giggsy left the band, and new members Gem Archer and Andy Bell joined. The tour started with a new system, but Noel left the tour after a brotherly quarrel, and some media outlets criticized the band as having passed its peak as a live band, but the STANDING ON THE SHOULDER OF GIANTS TOUR somehow managed to land. In May-June 2001, they held a joint tour with THE BLACK CROWES in North America, the BROTHERLY LOVE TOUR, but drummer Alan White had an injury to his thumb, so his brother Steve White joined the tour as a substitute. Alan White made a comeback at the Fuji Rock Festival and a performance in Bangkok, Thailand in July, but the band, which had been a huge success in the 90s, was feeling some anxiety about its existence as a live band. The band, which had risen to the level of a stadium band, held a monumental tour in a tiny venue just like their debut. As if to dispel the dark clouds that were hanging over them, the audience and the band continued to perform a passionate performance like their debut. This tour was a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the band’s formation, but looking back at this point in 2022, it can also be seen as a tour that signaled the band Oasis’ return to their roots and their ability to function as a live band again. 10 YEARS OF NOISE & CONFUSION TOUR October 07, 2001 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, London October 08, 2001 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, London October 10, 2001 Manchester Apollo, Manchester October 11, 2001 Manchester Apollo, Manchester October 13, 2001 Barrowland, Glasgow October 14, 2001 Barrowland, Glasgow A stadium-class band toured in a tiny venue for only six dates, so tickets were in high demand and even counterfeit tickets were circulated. This title contains the complete recording of the two Manchester dates, which only the lucky audience who won the highly competitive ticket battle could experience. The release has been newly mastered, making the band’s performance easier to listen to than ever before. This was their first performance in Manchester in four years since their performance at G-MEX in December 1997, and the audience’s reaction was amazing, especially considering that the venue was so small. The audience noise was picked up well during and between songs, and you can relive how wonderful their triumphant return performance was. Looking at the set list, it was a special one, with the debut of The Hindu Times, which had not yet been released at the time, Hung In A Bad Place, Half The World Away, and She’s Electric, Noel’s electric corner including electric guitar singing in Whatever, which was a special set only for this tour, and the second encore. In addition, Johnny Marr, a senior Manchester guitarist, guested on lead guitar on two songs, Champagne Supernova and I Am The Walrus. After the band performed “Whatever” on the first night, the audience could be heard singing along to “Who the fuck is Andy Bell?”, a song that was popular among the band at the time. It was clear that the band members were relaxed at this triumphant homecoming concert, but that the show was great from start to finish.
