Description
First appearance of newly excavated & greatly upgraded superb sound source! This is a big event & must-have! A definitive title that surpasses other labels is born! Last year, we released many definitive titles accompanying the 3rd album “BE HERE NOW”, but this year is also the 30th anniversary of the release of the masterpiece 2nd album “(WHAT’S THE STORY?) MORNING GLORY”. The important two days that bridged these two works were the opening stage of U2 (POP MART tour) in Auckland in June 1997. It attracted a lot of attention because it was the return to a full-scale live stage since the interruption of the US tour the previous year, and it was also the opening stage for U2. In particular, the photo of Liam wearing a brown western shirt on the first day was widely reported at the time, and many enthusiasts will recall that appearance when they hear Auckland in 1997. Although Noel had actually returned to the stage before Oakland, having performed alone at an event and a short performance with Oasis at a radio station event a few days earlier, it was the two days in Oakland that signaled his return to full-scale live performances. Speaking of the 1997 Oakland 2DAYS, the only recording available at first was the real-time release of the second day, “OAKLAND NIGHT” (referred to here as Source#C), and the full details of the two days were revealed more than ten years later on Flushbulb’s “THE FAB 5 UNDER THE S4×60”. Not only was the recording from the first day (Source#A) released here for the first time, making both days available, but a separate recording from the second day (Source#D) was also released. As for the audience recordings that were widespread at this point, Source#C recorded on the second day’s “OAKLAND NIGHT” was a high-quality recording, but Source#A on the first day and the second source Source#D on the second day were like audience recordings in a vast outdoor venue, giving the impression of a “sound image with a sense of distance” or “sound quality lacking in breadth”. Although it was a good audience recording, the impression of “I wish the sound was a little better…” was undeniable. However, last December, a new audience recording (Source#B) was suddenly discovered on the first day, causing a stir (literally!) among enthusiasts all over the world! The main feature of the first-day first-appearance sound source Source#B, which was unearthed this time, is that it is a sound source that “makes up for what is lacking” compared to the previous audience recording Source#A on the same day! Source#A has a solid sound, but the sound image is such that the bass part may crack. On the other hand, the newly excavated Source #B has a sound image that tends to lean towards the left channel, but it is not close to a sound distortion, but rather a sound image that captures the space of the day. This excavated sound source is big news, so it is inevitable that it will be released by other labels, but simply releasing it is not an art, and above all, it is inevitable that we want to provide everyone with a literally “Definitive” title that will overwhelm other labels. Therefore, in combination with the good compatibility between the multiple sources mentioned above, we have carried out thorough remastering and remixing, just like with previous Oasis releases! First of all, regarding the first day, by taking advantage of the good compatibility mentioned above, we have succeeded in evolving the thickness and spread in a natural way by matrixing and remastering the newly excavated Source #B and the DAT recording source Source #A recorded in the already released “THE FAB 5 UNDER THE S4 × 60”! As for the excavated sound source Source #B, the sound image that tended to lean towards the left channel has been properly remixed and matrixed. By doing this, we can finally listen to the first day in Auckland, familiar with Liam’s brown western shirt, with the highest sound quality ever! We guarantee that it is a sound source that will definitely give you greater satisfaction than listening to the source alone! Also, for the second day, the audience recordings (Source # C and Source # D) recorded in the two items introduced earlier have been matrixed and remastered. It is true that the first sound source on the first day is the highlight of this release, but the overwhelming upper degree of the second day is not inferior to it at all! The unsatisfactory sound quality of each of the two sound sources was matrixed and remastered, and it was a great success in creating a “sound spread” and “sound thickness” that had never been seen before! The more maniacs who have become accustomed to listening to past items, the more you will be surprised by this upper feeling. It has evolved so much that you can’t help but feel that “that second day in Auckland has become even better sound…”. It is now one of the best sound quality items in the history of Oasis audience recording items! In the first place, all the past items recorded on the second day of Auckland are difficult to obtain, and only the MC after “Wonderwall” is a part of “Source # D” due to the relationship with the original source, so if you listen to that part, you should be able to easily realize that the sound quality has improved dramatically with this matrix work. And yet, it is really interesting to see the big Giggsy fan (!) getting excited nearby at the beginning of the live. And this time in Auckland, the tension is already high because it is the midpoint between 1996 and 1997. In this regard, you should be able to feel it just by listening to Noel singing “Don’t Look Back In Anger” on the first day. Inciting the audience before entering the chorus! Lol In addition, it is important to note that the songs included in “BE HERE NOW”, which was not yet released at the time, were performed live for the first time, which was a major point of these two days in Auckland! Regarding “D’You Know What I Mean?”, which was scheduled for release as a single, the first day was a cautious performance that was typical of a live performance, with Noel even missing the sound of the guitar solo, while the second day was a complete change of pace, with a wildness typical of 1997. It’s interesting to see the difference. Above all, “Be Here Now” does not yet have that impressive intro sequence, and it is played only with Mike Rowe’s keyboard, which is completely different from the sound you can hear on the studio album or the 1997 tour. Also, “Cast No Shadow” is a rare song to perform live with Liam’s vocals, but here it is performed in an extremely valuable live version with a full band and wild electric arrangement. The performance of the so-called band version of this song ended in these two days in Auckland, and has not been played at all in the band version to this day. The results of this remaster and remix are overwhelming in that such a valuable performance can be enjoyed with unprecedented high sound quality. (As an aside, the description of the title of the album released at the same time states that “The band versions of ‘Cast No Shadow’ and ‘Wonderwall’ were performed for the first time in Oakland,” but this is clearly incorrect. The electric band version of “Wonderwall” was first performed at KROQ Weenie Roast & Luau, which they performed four days before the Oakland performance, and as mentioned above, the Oakland performance was the last performance of the band version of “Cast No Shadow.”) This title will be the first Oasis release title of 2025. As the name suggests, the two days in Oakland were a masterpiece, combining a wonderful upper feeling with the strange high tension of the time! Enjoy this special two-day live performance, which is full of things to talk about, including first-time sound sources, extremely rare set lists and performances, premiere songs, last performance songs, and above all, superb sound quality! (Live recording memo) This is the latest remastered and remixed recording of the two-day live performance that was performed as the opening act for U2’s Pop Mart tour in Oakland (USA) in June 1997. During these two days, the band performed: – A very high-tension live performance that you wouldn’t expect from an opening act – Songs from the 3rd album “Be Here Now” were performed live for the first time in the world – The acoustic songs from the 2nd album “(What’s The Story?) Morning Glory” were replaced with electric songs, which was a stark change from the previous year – A rare set list that has never been reproduced anywhere else because it is the only midpoint between the 2nd and 3rd albums – Traditionally, one source of high-quality audience recordings were left on the first day and two sources on the second day, making this a very popular live performance. And in December last year, the second audience recording source from the first day (the longest recording source ever, which was high-quality and captured even before the start of the live performance) was newly discovered, which became a hot topic among enthusiasts. This time, due to the above circumstances, two high-quality AUD sources were prepared on each day, so we created the definitive sound source with matrix / remaster / remix.
