Description

Not only did Noel Gallagher return to Japan less than a year after his last visit, but he also brought this year’s Fuji Rock to a close. The footage was streamed live, and of course the latest performance in Japan was produced as a professional shot video and perfect sound quality stereo soundboard recording, and several items have already appeared. With such good sound quality, it’s only natural. However, the streaming audio has a bland sense of realism except for the cheers that occur at the end of the performance and the consecutive Oasis classics at the end of the live, and it even gives the illusion of being quiet with a “silence”. There is no doubt that Noel’s performance itself is a stereo soundboard with perfect sound quality, but the overall finish is simple and it is difficult to say that it fully captures the gorgeous High Flying Birds’ large band sound, which includes the chorus and horn section. However, the original is a stereo soundboard with the best sound quality. If we polish it up with the latest technology, such problems should be solved. Therefore, they succeeded in regenerating it by combining composite sound sources. This time, the streaming stereo sound board was mixed with an exclusive same-day audience recording to eliminate the lack of satisfaction of the original sound source mentioned above. Under the supervision of the provider of the audience recording, the finished product, which focused on reproducing the band sound and excitement that reverberated through Naeba on the day, is completely different from the original sound. First of all, the venue background music before Noel and the band appeared was recorded for a long time, and the reproduction as a document of the day was a completely different start. Furthermore, the performance and sound are thicker. The effect is particularly clear in the songs from the latest album “COUNCIL SKIES” that are played one after the other in the first half of the live, and “Whatever”, which has an attractive arrangement played by a full band. What is more noteworthy is the sense of realism that is much more realistic than the original sound. The sense of realism unique to the outdoor venue of the festival, which was completely different from last year’s visit to Japan, is firmly conveyed. And on the day, it started raining during the live performance, and the sound of the rain even made its way into the streaming audio around “Dead In The Water,” where Noel quietly sang, but the finished product was amazing in that it didn’t bother me at all. Here again, the difference from the original audio was clearly visible. And since it was less than a year after their last visit to Japan, the repertoire was changed, and instead of the Bob Dylan cover “Mighty Quinn” from the previous performance, they performed Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” and from the Oasis classics, they performed “Whatever” and “Talk Tonight.” In particular, “Whatever” is a choice that is suitable for Japanese festivals, and the current full band arrangement seems to be a perfect fit. The excitement of the finale was captured even when streaming on everyone’s favorite “Don’t Look Back In Anger,” but by mixing in the audience recording, it was upgraded to an even richer excitement. “This is the excitement of that night…” The reproduction is so good that it makes your heart pound. This release further refines the quality of the stereo soundboard recording, which already promises the best sound quality. Not only does the sound quality sound good, but it has been reborn as the best document that recreates that day, which can be said to be a memory of this summer. This soundboard album is not just a recording of the Japan tour, but can be said to be the definitive version of the “COUNCIL SKIES” live performance! Key points of this sound source ① While other labels are releasing SBD sound sources based on live footage as they are, this sound source is a matrix of high-quality AUD sound sources provided by the recorder to the SBD sound source. Not only is it a matrix with the audience recording, but it has also been “remixed” to create the best version. (★Unlike the previous release, it is not a simple sound pressure-boosting seaweed waveform.) ② The matrix in ① above increases the realism and clarity compared to the live SBD sound source alone, and above all, the performance sound is thicker and more powerful. It’s a clear remix that’s different from the muffled mix of the original broadcast sound source. ③Since the AUD recording is matrixed, the SE that plays when Noel and the others appear on stage (the instrumental song “4-Minute Warning” written by John Paul Jones from “Music For Films III” supervised by Brian Eno) is recorded for about 1 minute 33 seconds, which is longer than the broadcast sound source (just over 50 seconds in the broadcast sound source). ④It started to rain heavily from AKA… What a Life! in the middle of the live, and the rain sound was recorded quite loudly in the broadcast sound source, and it was quite noticeable in quiet songs like Dead In The Water, but it was remixed by AI to make it less noticeable. ⑤Compared to the previous visit to Japan in 2023, a live brass band has been added to the stage members, evolving into a more luxurious staging/sound. The setlist now includes a variety of Oasis songs and covers that were not performed last December (Talk Tonight, Whatever, a cover of Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart, and Stand By Me).
