Description

Last year, NICK MASON’S SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS boldly revived early FLOYD music with a new project. A live album reporting on the first day of the tour, which also featured new masterpieces, is now available. This work includes “March 12, 2019 Vancouver performance”. This is a masterpiece audience recording. NICK MASON’S SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS made a shocking debut in May of last year, and we have reported on their live album since the beginning. It’s been half a year since then. Nick, who has also been awarded the rank of Commander of the Order of the British Empire, has finally restarted SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS. First of all, let’s look back on its history and check the position of the show in the recent situation of 2019. ●2018, May 20th-24th: UK #1 (4 performances), September 2nd-21st: Europe (15 performances), September 23rd-29th: UK #2 (6 performances)● 2019・March 12th-April 22nd: North America (28 performances)←★Here★・April 29th-May 4th: UK (5 performances)・July 3rd-27th: Europe (14 Performance) This is all the live performances that have been announced from the first stage to the present. Last year we toured continental Europe, mainly the UK, but this year we finally crossed the ocean and headed to the US. We have started a full-fledged tour with 28 performances, which exceeds the entire schedule of last year. The Vancouver performance of this work was the first day of the “North American” concert. This work, which is the first report of 2019, is a truly beautiful audience recording. The best thing about it is the neat sound. It is not a direct recording that can be mistaken for a sound board, but NICK MASON’S SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS suits it well. While the strong core dives straight to the hand, the venue acoustics that rises from there like an aura strangely does not give a sense of distance, adding to the luster. The details are also very clear, and the lines of the bass, which tends to be a weak point in guest records, are clearly drawn, and you can clearly understand every single word of the lyrics. What’s more, the sound of the hall creates a unique illusion and floating feeling, which is wonderful. It’s clear enough to listen to every detail of the performance, and there’s plenty of mood to completely immerse yourself in it. It’s a sound that changes its expression like a kaleidoscope depending on your mood. Such a sound depicts the world of early FLOYD, which is a little different from 2018. The selection of members, arrangement, and general set are the same as last year’s, which received rave reviews, but more famous songs have been added. “Remember A Day” from “Mystery” was played in the middle of the show, and “Childhood’s End” from “Kumo no Kage” was also performed as an encore. “Remember A Day” was performed only once by David Gilmour in memory of Richard Wright in 2008, but there is no other solo record of any member, making it a comeback for the first time in almost 51 years. “Childhood’s End” will also be performed live for the first time in 46 years since 1973. It is not a simple addition as the single song “Point Me At The Sky” has been dropped from last year’s basic set, but it is definitely an increase in volume, and you can once again experience the shock of unexpected early FLOYD numbers popping out. Based on last year’s example, it is expected that the set will remain fixed for a while, but since this is the first performance, the impact is fresh. In the intro of both songs, there is more of a roar than applause, and a silence that makes you wonder which song it is. In the future, if it becomes a fixed set, I’m sure I’ll be able to play better, and the mood of the venue will be different. This is the restart debut album that will make you look forward to the changes. Also, the mood of the first arrival in North America is delicious. From the perspective of the audience, there’s no way it would cause a fuss, and they’re the type that listens quickly to the sound of a solid performance. However, the applause that erupts during the highlights is huge, and the cheers that fly here and there are typical of North America. No matter how popular the Internet is, it is possible to prepare in advance, but even in a set that does not include any hit songs, the audience still follows along, eagerly waiting for the performance. Of course, it won’t be a big chorus like Gilmore or Roger Waters’ stage, but you can feel the depth and seriousness of the North American fan base. NICK MASON’S SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS has crossed the ocean with a new revival repertoire. It is the first report of the restart stage, and it is a masterpiece of a live album that contains a unique premiere with a wonderful sound.
