Description
With their first performance in Japan in eight years approaching, NEW ORDER is suddenly getting hotter. The best soundboard album that revives the golden 1980s is here. This work contains the “Barcelona performance on July 7, 1984”. This is a stereo soundboard recording. At that time, they sent “POWER, CORRUPTION & LIES” to No. 4 on the UK charts and accelerated at once. First, let’s take a bird’s-eye view of their activities at that time and explore the position of this work. 1983 ・January 26th + 29th: UK #1 (2 performances) ・February 25th – April 26th: Europe #1 (15 performances) {May 2nd “POWER, CORRUPTION & LIES” released} ・May 9th + 10th: UK #2 (2 performances) ・June 17th – July 9th: North America (14 performances) ・July 20th / December 2nd: UK #3 (2 performances) 1984 ・March 19th – April 15th: Europe #2 (10 performances) ・May 14th – July 10th: Europe #3 (13 performances) ←★Here★ ・August 11th – 27th: Europe #4 (11 performances) This is the NEW ORDER of 1983 / 1984. Although the North American tour was also inserted, it was almost entirely in Europe and was carefully circuited many times. This work was recorded at the 12th performance of “Europe #3”, which was also the final one. This work, which conveys such a scene, is a completely official, superb soundboard. That’s because this show was the official recording that was also used in the box “RETRO”. Only one song, “Ceremony”, was used in “RETRO”, but this work is the complete version. Moreover, the origin is also special. In fact, tapes recorded from the mixing desk were discovered in the rehearsal studio used by Peter Hook at the time, and this recording is one of them. In other words, it was not broadcast, nor was it circulated among traders. It is a leaked soundboard filled with the sound of the on-site mix desk itself. In fact, the sound of this work tells the story of its origin. The space where the cheers are not heard at all and only the extremely thick performance sounds occupy is just like a studio work. On the other hand, the heat that can only be achieved by live performance is dazzling, and the panning that blows away with a grand stereo width is also brilliant. (If you listen carefully with headphones, you can hear a very faint whistling sound, which makes it sound like a live stage performance, but it feels more like a live studio work. What is depicted on this superb soundboard is a special set packed with early repertoire. Finally, let’s summarize the contents. Aesthetics of Power (4 songs) Your Silent Face / The Village (★) / We All Stand (★) / Age Of Consent Others (8 songs) Singles: Ceremony / Lonesome Tonight / Confusion / Hurt (★) / Blue Monday / Everything’s Gone Green / Temptation Soundtrack: Skullcrusher (★★) *Note: The “★” mark indicates numbers unique to the 80s. In particular, the “★★” mark indicates songs exclusive to the “POWER, CORRUPTION & LIES” era. …And so it is. The new work “POWER, CORRUPTION & While the “LIES” numbers are the core of the album, the early singles are even more prominent. “Hurt” is the B-side of the single “Temptation,” and “Lonesome Tonight” is the B-side of the single “Thieves Like Us.” Also, the extremely rare song “Skullcrusher,” which was only performed on this tour, is a song that first appeared on the soundtrack of the 1987 black comedy film “SALVATION!”. Some people may be learning for the first time that this song was performed live. “Ceremony” is the famous track that opens the live disc of “RETRO.” This is the complete soundboard album. It boasts the same sound quality as the studio masterpieces, but also the rich full-length sound that can only be found in the early days. This is a superb piece that will allow you to immerse yourself in the music. A superb stereo soundboard recording of the “Barcelona performance on July 7, 1984”. This is the complete version of the soundboard that also featured “Ceremony” in the official box “RETRO”. There was only one song, but this is the complete version. Moreover, the origin is special. In fact, it is a tape discovered in the rehearsal studio used by Peter Hook at the time, and the sound is on the same level as the official studio work. You can’t hear any cheers at all, but on the other hand, the heat that can only be achieved through live performance is dazzling, and the panning that blows away with a bold stereo width is also brilliant. This is an absolute board that allows you to enjoy the early full show, which is packed with precious single songs and soundtrack songs.
