Description

NEW ORDER burst into flames in 1983 when their single “Blue Monday” and album “POWER, CORRUPTION & LIES” shot up the UK charts. A professional shot video that allows you to witness those days has been decided to be released. This work was filmed at “Minneapolis performance on June 29, 1983.” This is the multi-camera pro shot. As mentioned above, they were in the midst of a breakthrough at the time. First of all, let’s check the show’s position from the schedule at that time.・January 26th + 29th: UK #1 (2 performances) ・February 25th + 26th: Sweden (2 performances) [Single “Blue Monday” released on March 7th] ・March 11th-24th: UK #2 (4 performances)・April 11th-26th: UK #3 (9 performances) [“POWER, CORRUPTION & LIES” released on May 2nd]・May 9th + 10th: UK #4 (2 performances) )・June 17th – July 9th: North America (14 performances) ←★Here★・July 20th + December 2nd: UK #5 (2 performances) This is the NEW ORDER of 1983. There are many ambiguous points in the records from that time, so the number of performances is not exact, but I think you can understand the general flow. Their main battlefield was their home country of England, but they also traveled to other countries in between. In particular, they toured North America immediately after their formation (a tour that was postponed due to the death of Ian Curtis), but the scale has increased as the years have gone by. The Minneapolis performance of this work is the 8th concert in the middle of such “North America” leg. This work, which records such a show, is a professional shot with great master freshness. As you can see from the captured image on the right, the screen is a little too dark to be called “official grade,” but it’s still a huge difference from the VHS era, which was full of dubbing. There is almost no distortion or white line noise, and you can stare at the gorgeous visual beauty for a long time. And, the show depicted with that quality is a passionate performance from an era when the world’s eyes were just about to gather. Let’s organize the set here. ●MOVEMENT (2 songs)・Truth, ICB ●POWER, CORRUPTION & LIES (2 songs)・Your Silent Face, Ultraviolence ●Other single songs (6 songs)・Procession, In A Lonely Place, Everything’s Gone Green, Temptation, Confusion, Thieves Like Us… and it looks like this. It’s strange that “Blue Monday,” which reached number 5 on the US dance charts, is not included, but other than that, there are a lot of representative songs from that time. Speaking of early videos, there is also the official “TARAS SHEVCHENKO”, but the only overlaps with that are the four songs “Truth”, “Procession”, “Everything’s Gone Green” and “Temptation”. You can enjoy the early repertoire before the breakthrough of “LOW-LIFE”. NEW ORDER in 1983 achieved a foothold in North America that they were unable to achieve with Ian Curtis, and found a foothold in success with “POWER, CORRUPTION & LIES.” This is a multi-camera professional shot that allows you to witness them in that era. A valuable video work that allows you to experience the youthful stage that only exists in the early stages. Live at First Avenue, Minneapolis, MN, USA 29th June 1983 PRO-SHOT (63:14) 01.
