Crazy Horse’s May 2018 live performances, which were the first in four years since their hiatus in 2014, have been a big topic of conversation, with Nils Lofgren rejoining the band. The two consecutive performances on May 5th and 6th in Bakersfield, California, have been recorded in full from a high-quality audience master at the soundboard level. First, on the 5th, the first day, like the Fresno performance, the show started with a great “Big Time”, but there were some problems such as Neil making a mistake in the composition around “Winterlong”. However, the latter half of the show, “When You Dance I Can Really Love”, was a great performance for Nils, who had not played it since the Santa Monica Flyers, and then there was “The Loner” from the early days of Lazy Horse, the spectacular “Like A Hurricane” with its roaring sound, and “Love To Burn”, which was the first time Nils joined the band in the encore, all of which gave me goosebumps. And on the 2nd, “Speakin’ Out” was finally revived! So, it was as if Nils responded to the voices of many fans who wanted him to play this song if he rejoined Horse.
