Description
Motley’s second visit to Japan in 1987, from the Japan tour accompanying “Girls, Girls, Girls,” was the third day at Budokan and the last performance in Japan, December 18th, which was extremely easy to listen to. This is a must-have for fans, complete with high-quality audience recording. It is the same master as the sound source that was released on CD in the 90’s with the title “Gold Disc”, but compared to this previous release, this version has a more natural sound without a sense of equalization. Also, the pitch of the previous release was high, but this version is recorded at the correct pitch. Although the sound feels a little distant from the stage, the sound is stable and you can listen to the performance without stress. The impression of degraded sound of the tape mainly in the high range that I felt in the previous release is not this one. As with the previous release, there is a tape change cut at the 48th second of Jailhouse Rock, but this part has been patched from other places, and this version can be listened to uncut for the first time. Former Lee’s stage at this time, full of young energy, is special, and I am overwhelmed by Vince’s vocals, which have a strong high range, as well as the power of the performance. The enthusiasm of the venue that filled the Budokan was as hot as the stage, and the realism of the female fans’ enthusiasm made it possible to feel the tremendous popularity of Motley at the time from the sound. The best selection numbers from the first four discs, which are still played as main songs, all emit a smoked silver shine and are worth listening to, but the best part is that they have been performed in Japan as well. Tommy’s 360 degree giant rotation drum solo! With the screams of “Right?” and “Left?”, the drum stand tilts from side to side with a tremendous sound effect, and with the cry of “Let’s Go!”, the entire drum stand rotates forward and backward at considerable speed. The roar of the audience at that moment was very real. The end of the main set was a full performance of Zeppelin cover Rock And Roll. Before the encore, a gold disc award ceremony was held on stage to commemorate album sales of 70,000 copies, but the record company president appeared on stage and spoke passionately, as if on a campaign trail, saying, “My Pioneer has won a gold disc. I would like to present you with a disc!” “Today’s concert will be recorded on video and shown to the whole world!” (The mood is bubbly!) “Let’s call each member individually! First up is vocalist Vince.・Neil!” “Mick Mars on guitar!” “Next up is Nikki Sixx on guitar (?)!” “Tommy Lee on drums!” “I would like to capture this excitement in a video with everyone in the background! ” I scream. I don’t think it’s necessary to scream this much, but perhaps that’s why the audience is so excited. The part where the motorcycle SE plays at the beginning of Girls, Girls, Girls as if to dispel the company president’s several screams of “Thank you very much!” is quite exciting and interesting.
