Description

From the 1980 European tour, which featured an unexpected lineup of Kenny Kirkland’s beautiful piano and John Thurman’s soprano saxophone, a live performance at Dusseldorf’s Robert Schumann Hall on February 4th was unearthed. The first appearance sound source recorded from the broadcast sound source has been released. The official album “First Meeting” released by the ECM label has not lost its fresh sound even if fans listen to it now.・Meeting” is a little different. The chemistry between Kenny Kirkland and John Thurman allows for amazing improvisation, and John Thurman’s soprano saxophone, which was a bit subdued on the album, explodes here. After leaving Weather Report, this was the type of jazz that Miroslav Vitous wanted to do. 1.Silver Lake 2 2.When Face gets Pale 3.First Meeting 4.Beautiful Place To 5.Recycle 6.You Make Me So Happy Live at Robert Schumann Hall, Düsseldorf, Germany 02/04/1980 John Thurman (ss, bs) Kenny Kirkland (p, synth) Miroslav Vitous (b) Jon Christensen (dr)
