Description

The Berlin performance on November 4th from the 1967 European tour is here on the master quality soundboard! This work, which appeared with a quality that everyone thought was an official version, was recorded from the master quality version of the same sound source that was leaked in recent years. Throughout, it is recorded with a wide texture that is extremely fresh and natural, and is easy on the ears. The sound is so clear that it cannot be compared to existing sound sources, and you can experience the overwhelming dynamism. This sound source, which is almost the last performance of this ’60s quintet, was originally used for radio broadcasting, so the quality of its content and performance is guaranteed. Anyway, the 43-minute medley is filled with killer numbers and no time to catch your breath, and the sound of Tony in particular is recorded with a balance that stands out clearly, and the sound of those cymbals and hi-hats is a pleasure. Moreover, the group is well-organized, and although Hancock falls into an avalanche of play that approaches free jazz in the first half, Shorter blows a long tone from the bridge in the middle, and Tony pushes furiously when he enters the solo, which is wonderful. Here’s one of Miles’ best performances from the 60’s, with both power and a sense of unity! 1.AGITATION 2.FOOTPRINTS 3.ROUND ABOUT MIDNIGHT 4.NO BLUES 5.MASQUALERO [LIVE AT PHILHARMONIE, BERLIN 11/04/1967] MILES DAVIS(tpt), WAYNE SHORTER(ts), HERBIE HANCOCK(p) RON CARTER( b), TONY WILLIAMS(dr)
